Hey friends! :)
How's it going? I missed the previous challenge. I was actually thinking of joining, but as you may know I got so busy... but in an awesome way! :)
Anyhow, I'm back and I'm quite excited to write something for ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #77 which is about "My Favorite YouTube Channels".
To be honest, it was quite difficult for me to narrow down my answer to this topic because I follow almost around 500 YouTube channels... though majority of them I no longer watch. And I'm quite lazy to unsubscribe and stuff, so I just left it that way.
I also watch various types -- from daily vlogs to Japanese learning, some art-related channels, music, anime and so on. The scope is so broad that I asked myself, "How do you find time to watch all these?" -- Well, I don't. haha It's the same in real life... sometimes you enjoy one thing, but get bored and switch to another. So the contents I watch on YouTube also come and go.
Ok Shei... stop blabbing and get into it!
LET'S START!!!
Allow me to share the channels I currently frequent and enjoy. I categorized them, so it's easier for me to share.
Although I listen mostly on Spotify these days, I still check some of my favorite musician's channel for their live performances, music videos, lyric videos and so on. Let me tell you about these three...
Tegoshi Yuya is my favorite Japanese singer. He used to be a part of my favorite Japanese idol group called NEWS, but now he's pursuing his music career as a soloist. I've been his fan since 2009, but back then, their agency was so strict that they weren't allowed to have any social media account. It was so difficult to listen to their music, but when he left the group and started YouTube a couple years back, although feeling a bit guilty, I was so happy.
The Global Phenomenon... The PPop Kings!!!
I'm just so proud of these boys. They're the most famous Filipino idol group these days and they've been conquering the world with their music and talent! I became a fan January of 2020 and ever since then, I've witnessed the group's progress... and they're keeping at it, so I'll be supporting them continuously. Please check them out!!! You won't regret it! ;)
Here's another talented Japanese singer and composer. He usually makes his own songs and posts them on YouTube and Spotify. His music is so relaxing and so cute that it would make you fall in love. It's interesting how he writes the lyrics from a woman's perspective.
Well, I'm a Japanophile and an Otaku, so this category is kind of expected, right? Let me tell you about these channels...
Chris Broad is British and he has been living in Japan for more than 10 years. It's really fun watching his videos about Japan and his being brutally honest makes it more interesting and amusing. I especially like his series "Journey Across Japan" where he cycled all across Japan. :)
I have to introduce these two together since they're in a relationship. haha Aki is half-American, half-Filipino while Joey (The Anime Man) is half-Australian, half-Japanese. They're both into anime and manga and I so love all their anime-related content. They used to have a long distance relationship, but a few years ago, they decided to live together in Japan. Since then, they don't only talk about anime-related stuff, but also their life in Japan. BTW, my bestie always tells me Aki reminds her of me. hahah I can see the similarities... ;)
Norm is another foreign vlogger who lives in Japan. His content is quite entertaining and informative. I really enjoy it when he shows and tours several types of apartments in Japan... especially the tiniest ones.
It's a licensed anime channel on YouTube. I watch some anime episodes here that I couldn't find on Netflix or Amazon Prime. There's another channel similar to this, but for some reasons, I usually end up using Muse Asia. I suppose they're only available in Asian countries... thus the name?
Next on my list is Daily Vlogs... I used to follow a lot of content creators for their vlogs, but recently I'm only checking these three. I love them!!!
Kristel is a Filipino artist and singer. I'm not that familiar with her as an actress, but I love her voice. I especially enjoy watching her vlogs whenever she travels abroad. It's as if the viewers are traveling with her. She might not have been given much opportunity in the Philippines, but she's capturing some brands in Korea. <3
Stan is half Filipino, half Japanese. He's gay and proud... and I love him sooo much! He's just so real. He's originally from Cebu, but now lives in Japan. I really love it when he makes content with his mom (worldofmama) and his brothers. He also documented videos about his ex-homophobic dad who is now very proud of him. I cried a lot when he finally had a heart-to-heart talk with his dad about who he is. I love watching his mom's videos, too! <3
This Korean guy with a Filipino heart is effin' hilarious. His vlogs are really fun and entertaining. He's also great singer!!! Recently, he usually goes to Korea to represent the Philippines in interviewing casts of Disney+ Korean series. I can say he's more Filipino than Korean... despite being full Korean. It's maybe because he has been living in the Philippines for more than half of his life. :D
Last but not the least, True Crime. Actually, this is what I watch the most on YouTube. I follow several YouTubers who are in this genre, but these three lovely ladies are my favorites.
Stephanie is a very lovely storyteller. Most of her videos are around an hour or more, but I love how detailed it is. She usually research not only the actual crime, but even the history of the people involved which lead to it. I also like how she interacts with her hubby while she's filming. Her supportive hubby is her live audience who usually asks most of the relevant questions I want to ask. She's also quite emotional that there were times when she cries while telling the story. I can't blame her for doing so, though.
If I don't have a long time to watch, I usually check Grazy's channel, instead. She usually makes true crime videos that are concise, but still pretty engaging. Aside from true crime videos, I also like when she talks about scary things. She sometimes asks people of their otherworldly or supernatural experiences and re-tell them to her viewers.
I always look forward to watching her Monday videos. She calls it Mystery and Makeup Monday. She usually shares some true crime stories while putting on makeup. She's very good at enhancing her already beautiful face, but what I like the most about her is her way of telling the story. It's as if the characters were her acquaintances... she's goofy, and it's funny how she laughs whenever she feels uncomfortable and explains herself. I haven't really checked her other posts, but they seem interesting, too... I should check them out as well. :)
The list goes on, but these channels are definitely at the top of my list recently. I watch depending on my mood and my free time. So, if you're into any of those categories, feel free to check them out.
I also have a YouTube channel but it has been sleeping for a long time. But if you're interested in listening to some of my spoken poetry entries, you can check them HERE...
That's it for this entry. It's quite long, but I hope you still enjoyed it. See you around! (^^,)/
i watch anime from muse asia as well lol.
You do??? Nice!!! 😁🥰

Hi kap.. sino bias mo? 😄😄
Omg!!! Hi kap!! 🥰
Josh po.... Minsan si Ken.. 😂
Pero mostly Mahalima 🥰
All of these are new to me except RottenMango, which I've stumbled upon because I am a true crime fan. It seems like in SE Asia most attention is paid to S. Korea music and movies for foreign entertainment, well at least the mainland. I really love watching Japanese pranks and bizarre game shows on YouTube, but I don't know if there are any channels dedicated to it.
Ohh... nice! A fellow true crime fan. :) Yes, most of the people I know are into Kdrama or Kpop... but I'm not really a fan, so I can't relate that much. haha
Not sure if there are, but some fans compile them... :) I remember watching Takeshi's Castle when I was younger, it was so funny.
