I've finally gotten over my cold and my voice is almost 100% back, so I can work from today. However, for the past few days, I couldn't do anything. I mostly just slept a lot and watched some stuff online while doing my blogs.
Yesterday, my mom @arashi0415 was cleaning. She washed our mini medicine basket and then requested I paint it. I was already feeling much better then, so I excitedly agreed.
We keep some OTC (over-the-counter) medications at home, such as antipyretics (for fever), antihistamines (for allergies), burn ointment, throat lozenges, and so on. We don't drink medicine soon as we prefer managing our symptoms naturally, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
Now, let me show you how I transformed our mini medicine basket.
This was our mini medicine basket before painting. It's made of plastic but is weaved like a native-style basket. It used to have a pink line in the middle, but as time passed it disappeared.
For this project, I decided to use acrylic paint. I mixed in red, yellow, and a tiny bit of black to create this hue of brown. I got my white ready since I want to have some variations in hue.
First or base coating done. I made the edges darker than the body of the basket.
I then added a different hue over the base paints to make them more realistic-looking. I originally wanted to end here as it already looks like a native handmade basket compared to the earlier plastic one.
However, when I showed it to my mom, she wanted me to add more designs. hahah I guess she prefer colorful ones, and since I have the time, I did as I was told.
I painted my desired design using white paint first to make it pop. It's so difficult to create a solid design because of the weaving patterns, but I still tried doing so.
These were the designs I did on the mini-basket. I chose easy and simple designs because it was difficult to paint on such a surface. It didn't look as clean as I imagined, but it wasn't as bad. :)
After the paint dried up, we placed the medicine in it and put it back on top of the fridge where we usually keep it.
I personally like the simple brown basket, but my mom liked the design, so I'm good. It was her request anyway. I also enjoyed painting it yesterday. I hope my mom asks me to paint more stuff in the future. I'd need to buy more acrylic paint and other materials soon, though.
I hope you enjoyed my small project. Thanks for checking it out and see you around! You all have a great one! (^^,)/
Thank you soooooo much for granting my special request again...heheh
