Last November 30 was the last day of celebration in our town and it was a blast and full of enjoyment to the people that lives here in our town.
For the last day of the celebration, it was the drum and lyre presentation and they present in front of the oval with their representing school from the baranggay's here in the town and many government officials attended this kind of celebration and one of the is the mayor of our town.
The even started early in the morning with another activity and I am looking forward only to the drum and lyre presentation. In fact, I was even late from the presentation itself because I was hesitating to go here since I am very busy with my work but there's a sudden change of schedule of my work and that's why I got here.
I arrived at 9 in the morning in the oval and I though that the drum and lyre presentation was not yet started but it isn't. After I got there, it was the last presenter of the elementary schools (primary school) and thankfully even if I am late, I will be witnessing the presentation of the high school departments and there are 6 presenters of the high school department.
I was amazed by these young students that they are invested in this field and even if they are expose from the heat of the sun, they are doing their best to perform to be the best in their presentation as well as their parents and the audience that are also watching the presentation.
Their determination to give their best during the presentation gives me chills and at the same time, I'm happy for them or their own unique performance. When I saw them presenting, I always remembers the past when I was still a student and performing this kind of event. There are times that I would cry a little while watching them and I can't help it because I know the struggle of being in that position although I was a lyrist but the struggle is real that we will be standing in the middle of the oval during our practice and we will not take a break if there's someone who got wrong.
Before, when I was still a high school student, the drum and lyre corps. was a competition and there were many schools that compete with each other and one of the that was also my school. We trained really hard every Saturday and Sunday and when the competition is near, we were practicing during during class hours.
Today, I think they changed from competition to presentation for entertainment to the people who are watching and I think each of the presenters were given the same amount of consolation prize because of their effort on presenting it.
My school before were the last to present their drum and lyre presentation and I thought that they would present maybe at the middle but they are the last one and I believe about the saying "Save the last for the best" and yes, it was worth to watch the presentation because all of the students gave their best moment and efforts for that presentation itself. The last performer were the ones that wears purple uniform and it was one of the best uniform because it's a unique color not a common color.
At night, because of the eerie hot weather in that morning. I got some colds and up until today I am still recovering from the colds that I've got last 2 days ago. Still, it was the best moment and experience that I've got on that day because I witness each of the performers in the oval.
