Actually, I don't really agree with Indonesian films that adapt foreign films. Nowadays, many production houses buy the copyrights of films from South Korea such as Miracle in Sell no 7, Business Proposal, Pee Mak, My Annoying Brother, and others. I prefer films adapted from books by Indonesian authors, but Production Houses seem to have more confidence in films that have the largest fan base, namely South Korea.
I usually don't go to the cinema to watch South Korean adaptations, especially if I've watched the film and have received very good ratings from me such as Pee Maak, Miracle in Sell no 7, My Annoying Brother, etc. For me, nothing can match the original film.
Instead of watching these adaptations directly in the cinema, I just wait for them on online platforms like Netflix. For me, it's fair enough if I just want to see how domestic filmmakers package these adaptations. That's what I did when I found out that the film My Annoying Brother was also adapted by an Indonesian filmmaker. The cast line is very interesting, but I prefer to watch it via a legal online platform. It's still better than watching the movie on a pirated platform, right?
Okay, let's talk about this movie with simply way.
My Annoying Brother
The Indonesian version of My Annoying Brother stars by Vino G. Bastian as Jaya Solihin and Angga Yunanda as Kemal Solihin. Like the original movie, My Annoying Brother tells the story of two brothers who were initially strained but then got back together. Although it started with hatred, Jaya and Kemal eventually got back together, but the end of their story was very tragic.
In terms of scene selection, it seems that the Indonesian version of MAB does not copy all the scenes in the South Korean version. However, the similarity in how the film opens is quite disturbing because it seems very similar. That is the part where Kemal Solihin is finally introduced. Continuing after that, the film has a different side and I started to get interested in this film. A pretty good actor from Vino G Bastian, he really fits the role of a cheeky brother. His chemistry with Angga Yunanda as his younger brother is also very suitable. This film is visually very eye-catching.
There is only one thing I noted from this adaptation, they don't have a scene where the younger brother actor calls and shouts 'brother' at the end of his match. It was a scene that really drained my tears and made my chest tight in the original film. Do Kyung Soo's acting is beyond the limit, he really gets into the role. However, in this adaptation, I think it's good not to be tied to the original version at all. Even so, this film still made me shed tears. Don't let anyone compare the two actors (Angga and Kyung Soo) because they are both very good at their roles.
...and this movie made me thinking about, every film adaptation must have Vino and Angga in it because they are both capable actors and will not disappoint the reader's expectations. This film, although not as good as the original film - because it has a different ending - is only in the character of Amanda who in the original film was played by Park Shin Hye. Caitlin is very beautiful but her acting and character here are not strong enough.
I rated this movie with 3 star from 5 star.

I have not yet seen the original one and the adaptation. I am not really good at watching sad movies I find it to be very draining to watch. I like romance comedy or simply comedy. I am glad you are enjoying simple and enjoyable habits like watching. Some people are so busy they can not even find time.
the original one is also comedy. I think I highly recommended the original movie..
