Head bump is common to children especial when they are still learning to stand up and walk but back then, during these periods where my kids are at these stages, my husband did a great job at making sure the don't bump their head and if so, he uses his superman skills to prevent it from happening.
A few days ago while thr kids are at school, my husband was mentioned in the class group chat, one of the grade 1 parents showed concern of our child telling him to fetch our child soon because she vomited.
I called my husband, I had a hard time calling him because our son borrowed his phone and he kept rejecting my calls. My daughter's phone is also out of reach I am am growing desperate. It's been a few days since Chielly said she was feeling nauseous and sometimes, she vomits sticky saliva. At first I thought it was because she sometimes skip meals due to her very picky at food and her eyes because she stares at cellphone for hours especially when I am not at home.
A little later, my daughter's teacher messaged me that my daughter slid and bumped her head on her chair, she was in pain and so she decided to sleep on her chair and when she already fell asleep, she fell and bumped her forehead and after that, she vomited.
Her sister came to her room, and took her home just as they used to do every noon time break. My husband saw them on the place where they had to wait for my sister to help them cross the highway, and helped them home. Then he bought fried chicken to pair with rice for lunch, Laling ate but vomitted after and decided to go to sleep. She complained that her head hurrs which is normal because it was just a few hours after she bumped her head.
The husband went to his work again after making her drink paracetamol, thinking she would fall asleep but she vomited again. I was still at work at that time.
My daughter's teacher texted me about what happened, I was alarmed, I got angry but I realized that she's just a teacher, not mu daughter's keeper and no matter what, she could not pay attention to each of the kids
2 pm came, and I received a call from my mother, se was very worried, her tone alarmed me even more ans scaring me. Perhaps my sister's experience from the past came flashed back and traumatized her even more with waht happened to my daughter. That sister slipped in our bathroom back then, bumped her head really hard, rhey took her to the doctors but I have no idea what happened next. Today she's still alive and is filled with her hate for me.
She said that symptoms of head trauma are vomiting and getting weak which my daughter showed, and that was enough to make run for home. I did not even askwd permission to the manager and just texted him that I am going home.
At this time, I wished I could fly or even have my own motorcycle to get home fast, good thing God gave me a vehicle I needed to get home. My thoughts were fuzzy at the moment, worse scenarios are coming to my mind but I kept on praying that Laling will be okay.
I was thinking of bringing her to the closest medical clinic in our place, the one located at the bus stop and so I thought of going on that stop and set a schedule on the doctor's secretary but Since I couldn't think very well, and the bus would pass by in front of my house, I did not do so and dropped infront of my house. I regreted of my actions and then walked to the clinic near the bus stop for a doctor's appointment, to my surprise, my old classmate was the secretary and it was not hard to get one because there are only few patients waiting.
I hurried back home to fetched my daughter, my mother was still there, and scolding me for not taking immediate actions. I got too busy to prepare for the check up and she decided to got to my daughter's school to ask the teacher what really happened and I was too busy to stop her from doing it.
I asked my daughter to walk to the highway from our house to observe her actions but somehow she was too weak to walk ad asked me to carry her. She vomited the food she ate at lunch, my mother tried to give her milk but also vomited it, she was hunry but her stomach would not accept food.
My husband drived to to the clinic, it was hot and we were in a hurry. At the clinic she asked for a chocolate drink but later she vomited it too and that's what worries me already.
We waited for about half an hour and all those time, I held her close to me and I was talking to her the whole time making her respond and talk.
I kept asking my daughter what really happened, makint it clear that it is only her that slipped and no one blocked her way or anything before the incident and she said she remiced her shoes and only wore socks inside her classroom because it rained the night, she stood from her chair to see what's written on the board since the su's light reflected from the floor making it hard to see.
I was glad she only slipped, she had been telling me that some of her classmates are bully.
Finally our turn came, my daughter was strong enough to walk inside the doctor's room which made me glad, the she sat on the chair next to the doctor. The doctor was a bit alarmed after I told her waht happened and how many times she had vomited. And I lso told her that she had been having that weird feeling in her stomach that leads to vomiting.
The good news is that after she observed my daughter, she told me that one of the signs for severe head injury and brain trauma is that the patient is unarrousable and would not respond to anything that is told to them nor can even control their body.
She prescribed my daughter Domperidone to stop her from vomiting, probiotics, and electrolytes supplement to replenish what was lost to my child's body. She also gave me a referral slip to the provincial hospital requesting for CT scan just incase something happens later. She said we had to observe my daughter for 24 hours to be sure, ans I am very glad the referral was left unused.
To divert my child's attention, we went inside the MR DIY store, we agreed to buy a toy and good thing I prepared a plastic bag with me there because she vomited before we came outside.
She picked two toys, we thought it was cheap but when we got to the counter, we only had to pick one or we will be out of budget. We stil have medicines to buy later.
My daughter chose this frog that blows bubbles
My daughter was livelier this time, and we went to the pharmacy to buy her meds before we went home. She asked me to carry her but I insisted she walk to see her body' s reaction.
We greeted my mum when we arrived, she told me about her visit to the school but I did not caught her words, then we proceeded home and mde my daughter drink her meds. Domperidone was bitter and she vomited right after taking them so we had to start again. She took again and same thing happened so I had to diverther attention.
Now we found out that the toy needs 2 AA batteries, and I asked @eylii to buy. I also asked her to buy Gatorade because the electrolyte mix doesn't taste good even for me, it was sweet and salty the the same time.
Third attempt of drinking the meds, the daughter did not vomit after, she diverted her attention to the bubbles her toy created and it bought us ten minutes before she vomited. She drank Gatorade also, and we chatted for a while, I never left her side so she won't feel alone. She wanted to sleep but I prevented her and went out of the house instead to breathe fresh air.
Thank be to God that a few minutes later, her being talkative returned, her head till hurt especially when touched, bbut she is showing progress. Night came and she did nt vomit again and ahe had dinner and her appetite was good.
That night, I asked my husband to take her to the hilot, glad the hilot was in his house that late hour, and helped my daughter. He massaged her left shoulder and lower back telling us she had minor dislocation that made her vomit. We thanked him as soon as he was finished and left, it was already getting late.
The next day, Laling even felt better but I took her to my workplace for further observation.
Thank be to God she was well. God is good all the time!
I had to end this blog here, thankfully, I finished this blog after a week since I first made it. This will be all for now, thank you for your time and support.
That was a very scary experience for any parent. I hope she is recovering well 🙏
Thank God she's okay. This is one of the scariest part of letting kids go to school, as we cannot watch them 24 hours and make sure incidents like this doesn't happen. I hope she gets fine sooner!
she;s well and doing good now, thanks for your concern
