Our First Corn Planting in 2025

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY17 days ago

I was born from a farmer parents and now that my dad departed and mum already in old age, I and my husband wanted her to do little work in the farm because we saw how tired she already is.

Hello, Hivers! Today's blog will be about the corn plantind recently had in the farm. Back then, we planted casaava in this area and to my husband's curiosity, he loaned and we did not really saw our profit at that time.

Fast forward to the following months, my husband focused on the new lot my uncle let us use and lef this space Vacant. We successfully planted corn and harvested but the space remained empty and after much nagging he finally paid someone to me plow the field but we were not able to plant after because there was no rain. The payment we made for rhe lamd preparations wen to waste as well the field prepared has grown with grasses instead.

The seeds we are using is not the usual seeds we used, it was new for me since the chemical the company usedis black in color instead of red which made me proud of having back then whenI was a kid and helped in planting corn. Now it's black and its almost as black as.coal that soiled our hadn yet perhaps it don't matter as long as it would do its work in protecting the seeds from ants and buggs alike.⁰

This year, afer much nagging again, i finally convinced my husband to plant on the space so we will be able to utilize it. We paid my cousin to plow the field and finally we were abel to plant, and thank God, there was rain almost everyday.

But it doesn't end there yet, rhe plowing was not yet finished by my cousin and it's been days since we planted, days went by wasted and the manpower we had on Sunday was also wasted sinxe they were not able to plant corn because there was no plow on the field to plant with and went home at noon withput any qork bwing done.

Hopefully he wil be doing the plowing this week so we will be able to continue planting on the weekends. And hopefully, the corn will grow wella nd give us a good harvest.

Now that I insisted on planting, my cousin had to olow rhr field twice to achieve a soft soil ready for planting. He once insisted we ahould clear the weeds furst , perhaps he wantwd to make more money but we already did and I don' to want to waste more funds, we already lost around 100 usd after we asked him to plow and was never planted.

While planting, I told my husband "you see, this could happen,, if you listened to him, we might get late in planting again"

And as you can see, the field still had left overs of weeds but it would never be a problem these days since there are already technology in weed control and that the corn planted could stend the chemicals for weed control.

I heard that it's really great to plant corns since it only takes 3-4 months to harvest them but planting them is sometimes tiring because it takes many hours to plant not only one corn many lots of them.

Yes, it only takes 3-4 months time to harvest but it's not only planting that is tiring, one also need to manage weeds, put fertilizers, and harvest, which is the most difficult of all. ND it doesn't end there, drying and loading for selling is also laborious too

Hoping the weather will be great so you could grow nice corns! It's nice to have a land to do farming. Good luck! 😊
