Hello everyone!
I have a daughter who has an incredible amount of mucus and I have found that the Zarbee's cough syrup with Ivy Leaf in it works wonders for her. I haven't been able to find it recently and with all that's going on in the world I would love to be able to extract the goodness from an Ivy Leaf plant myself so I can help my little girl out.
Has anyone ever worked with this plant before? If so, what part of the plant do I use and can I make an oil with it? Or does it have to be alcohol based?
I didn't know you could make detergent from it either!

I've love to know too. I didn't even know ivy was medicinal like this until last year. I wonder if you can do a glycerine extract? I had a little search online and didn't find much about it. @traisto maybe you might know something?
That's why I reached out on here, I tried looking online and really couldn't find much; mainly medicines with ivy in it and about the plant itself. I looked in my herb books at home and ivy isn't in them. Hopefully @traisto may know or we will find someone who does :)
Hi there!
Hedera helix, but again I have no idea and I am never sure who to trust on internet.@riverflows thank you for thinking of me, unfortunately I have no idea about ivy and I have never used it, I only know it is used in homeopathy. @maw12 I found on internet some tincture info under its Latin name
I looked in my books, the one that mentions it (a Greek one), stresses out that it is for limited use. What is used is the wood as a tincture in 1:10 (for whooping cough), but without further details.
The other remedy is 10% leaf extract in alcohol to be used in baths or in creams (as anti-neuralgic). These are just for our info.
I would certainly prefer and I would really like to hear from someone that has actually used it. Especially when it is about a limited use plant.
I really hope your daughter will get better soon!
Yes I'd be reluctant to use internally until I knew!! Thanks for looking, it all is good conversation right!!
