Monomad: Bioluminescent

This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge, which is hosted by @monochromes.

The scientific name of the fungus you can see here is Favolaschia manipularis, also known by the synonym Mycena manipularis. This species of mushroom is among the most stunning because of its bioluminescent basidiocarp, or fruiting body. Even when rendered in black and white, it retained all of its allure; in fact, the bioluminescent glow coming from the mushroom's fruiting body was even more striking. The embossed patterns on the cap's surface and the gill pores' inherent artistic features are what I find most appealing about this mushroom.
