There are people we wish to remember in a specific moment, within a certain context, in the way we related to them at that precise time. Sometimes, memories feel more vivid than the present, and we find it easier more comforting, even to stay there. Whether it’s due to regrets, poor decisions, or simply the longing for what once was, we explore our memories and, with compassion, accept who we were in those fleeting moments.
Hay personas que quisiéramos recordar en un momento en específico, con cierto contexto, con esa forma que había de relacionarse justo en un momento en concreto. Hay ocasiones donde los recuerdos son más vívidos que la actualidad, y nos vale más la pena quedarnos allí. De pronto por malas decisiones, por arrepentimientos… Sea como sea, nos resulta más cómoda explorar nuestra memoria y aceptar con compasión lo que fuimos en ese momento.
My dear friend Kisari made me reflect on the processes of friendship, on the vastly different stages it can go through.
Mi querida amiga Kisari me hizo reflexionar sobre los procesos de la amistad, las etapas tan distantes que se pueden transitar.
Kisari and I met in theater school. For over three years, we shared exercises, the stage, and the rhythms of daily life. We experienced so much as individuals during that time moments that inevitably became shared truths with our companions. You form such a profound trust, a silent pact, that even when time creates distance, you feel as though you know that person deeply. This was exactly what I felt when I took these photos of Kisari. Though it had been a while since we had seen each other, part of me believed I still understood her essence.
Kisari y yo nos conocimos en la escuela de teatro. Compartimos por más de tres años en ejercicios, en el escenario y en la vida cotidiana. Vivimos tantas cosas como individuos allí, cosas que terminabas compartiendo con tus compañeros con una confianza absoluta. Justo en el momento en que hice estas fotos a Kisari, aunque había pasado un tiempo sin vernos, una parte de mí creía conocer en profundidad a esa persona.
I like to think of these portraits as a reminder that even though time passes, there are ways to revisit who we once were.
Me gusta pensar en estos retratos como un recordatorio de que, aunque el tiempo pase, hay maneras de revivir lo que fuimos.
