Keny is the name everyone remembers when talking about the routes to Pozo Azul, an impressive natural destination located in the state of Cojedes. With his trusty Crocs and a humble "Bolso de la Patria," Keny guides visitors along paths he knows better than anyone else.

Neither Keny nor his family owns a smartphone. Even so, during our journey, he showed a special interest in my camera. Taking advantage of a moment, I captured some portraits of Keny. When he saw the photos, his face lit up, and he said, "It would be nice to have the memory; maybe I could print the photo." I promised him I would make sure he got his picture, a small gesture that meant so much more to him.

Although I went as a tourist, I couldn’t help but connect deeply with Keny’s reality and that of his family. Their daily life, so different from ours, made me reflect on the various realities surrounding us, many of which we ignore or simply fail to appreciate.

During the journey, I also encountered other children who are part of the human ecosystem that keeps the experience of reaching Pozo Azul alive. With their mules, donkeys, and horses, they contribute to the collective effort that makes this magical place accessible to those seeking adventure in the mountains.
Durante el recorrido, también me encontré con otros niños que forman parte de este ecosistema humano que da vida a la experiencia de llegar a Pozo Azul. Con sus mulas, burros y caballos, contribuyen al esfuerzo colectivo para que este lugar mágico siga siendo accesible para quienes buscan aventurarse en la montaña.
Keny lives in a small, modest house with his sisters and other family members. Despite its simplicity, their home is always open to tourists who need a place to shower, change, and prepare for the journey back to the city.
