This is the umpteenth time I have managed to spy the bush king preying on other small animals. Yeah, the king of bushes I'm referring to is Oxyopes salticus. Spiders that don't need web traps to paralyze their prey but instead use a guerrilla strategy, namely being patient behind the leaves waiting for their prey to come. The prey of the Oxyopes salticus spider this time is the Ricaniid Planthopper or black planthopper with the binomial name Ricania speculum.
Interestingly, when spiders of the Oxyopes genus have found their prey, they find it difficult to let go again, this was proven when I started targeting the spider. Of course the spider will be disturbed by my activities and will try to escape by climbing one leaf to another, but the spider is still reluctant to let go of its prey. And I have uploaded several photos of the Oxyopes salticus spider preying on the Ricaniid Planthopper below, here are some photos:
