Today my topic is dogs. Unfortunately, the government in Turkey has passed a scandalous law. In the past, stray dogs in need of help used to be taken to municipal shelters, sterilized and treated, and then released back to the street where they were taken.

Bugünkü konum köpekler. Maalesef Türkiye'de hükümet skandal bir yasa çıkardı. Eskiden yardıma muhtaç sokak köpekleri belediye barınaklarına götürülür, kısırlaştırılıp tedavi edildikten sonra alındıkları sokağa geri bırakılırdı.

However, the new regulation abolishes the "collect, vaccinate, sterilize and release" method. All dogs that are left on the streets must be gathered and given care in shelters until they are adopted, according to a new law that the Parliament passed.
Ancak yeni düzenleme "topla, aşıla, kısırlaştır ve serbest bırak" yöntemini ortadan kaldırıyor. Parlamentonun kabul ettiği yeni yasaya göre, sokağa bırakılan tüm köpeklerin toplanması ve sahiplendirilene kadar barınaklarda bakılması gerekiyor.

There is a big problem in this regard: The government says there are more than 4 million stray dogs in Turkey, but the maximum capacity of all municipal animal shelters is 105,000. This paves the way for the mass slaughter of animals. Unfortunately, videos on social media confirm the first reports of massacres.
Bu konuda büyük bir sorun var: Hükümet Türkiye'de 4 milyondan fazla sokak köpeği olduğunu söylüyor, ancak tüm belediye hayvan barınaklarının maksimum kapasitesi 105.000. Bu da hayvanların toplu olarak katledilmesinin önünü açıyor. Ne yazık ki sosyal medyadaki videolar ilk katliam haberlerini doğruluyor.
