Minotaurus, Demons & Beasts
Minotaurus is a demon-halfgod from Greek mythology, mixture breed between a bull & a human. Now, for the 1st time I see a connection between the Greek myth & Croatian carnival tradition.
These shots still manage to amaze me & that's why I'm still posting them to this challenge. I believe they have both artistic & photo quality & value.
These are the bell-carriers from Viškovo, Croatia called "Halubajski zvončari". I post 2 shots from them in my last entry in the challenge.
When I saw this guy in the middle, it made me laugh - such a big guy seems squashed by the other giants & I want to name this one - "Tighten Titan"
There are also black-headed demons in the carnival
When the guys are resting, they put down their head masks & it seems a bit like their heads are cut off in the battle.
They really need to be so terrifying to chase the evil spirits of winter or to scare off the Turkish or Mongolian armies which were invading Croatian territory in the past. In Croatia we say: "Nije svako zlo za zlo.", which means something like: "Not every evil is bad."
