The photographs in the post show some kind of rural hydraulic structure, something like an overflow dam. In the lake, on one side of the dam, there is a stone structure of a certain height. When the water level rises, its excess flows into this structure and flows through the pipes to the other side of the dam. The photographs were taken in winter, but since there is a current there, albeit a small one, the water does not completely freeze

Nice! Here we call those things spillways, never would have thought they'd make for fun photos though.
I myself am surprised how sometimes familiar things that you often see look completely different through the camera lens.
