I've got a pet rain cloud, it follows me wherever I go. I call it Bob. Could be worse I suppose, better than snow. Thought I could ditch it once, headed for the desert. No dice. Think Santa Fe got a year's worth of rain the day I came to town.
There's something about being out and about just after a storm has passed that makes it all worth it. Especially up in the mountains, everything seems cool and crisp, refreshed and regenerated by the rain.
All these photos are from my first visit to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. When I got there I had just enough time to pitch my tent before Bob caught up with me and pitched a fit. When the thunder and lightning died down about thirty minutes later I ventured out to see what I could see. Photos are all from that first jaunt.
Steam rising in the glistening quiet. Nary a thing stirs save for the wind and water. Silence.
Not quite sure what that peace thing is people like to talk about but the Rockies after a storm is one of the most peaceful moments I've ever experienced.
Groundhogs making coffee, that's how my granny always explained the steam rising from my native Appalachian Mountains in the early morning or after a rain. From what I saw in the Rockies there's an overabundance of hyper caffeinated rodents there as well.
I'd better go check on Bob, so that's enough out of me for one day. May the Storm be with you!
Wow, those are quite impressive pictures! I really like this kind of work!
And even though the color of the nature is missing, it is crystal clear, what is shown.
Keep up the great work!

Thank you! Nature is amazing, even in monochrome.
Thanks for dropping by!
You are welcome!
lol, that's a new one to me. I suppose in Colorado it would probably be something more like, Marmots making coffee :)
Damn whistlepigs. Ever try to pet one?
No. I imagine they would try to bite my hand off if I did. I like my hands how they are.
If you use a petting pistol you usually get to keep your hands. Otherwise it usually involves scarring.
I didn't think of using a petting pistol. I imagine those work about the same as petting bricks.
I'll give it a shot.
Thank you!
Beautiful photos in black and white! Beautiful place!
Thanks! RMNP is one of the most beautiful places I've ever laid eyes on.
Leave it to our grandparents to instill us with such sayings that we carry them all through our lives... Love this one!
Bob certainly is on your side in some respects; creating some compelling scenes with which to ply your trade of photography. Colorado is also an ally in this; some of the most gorgeous country in these United States.
The second shot of the post, with the sun's rays dropping in is the best of these stellar shots from my point of view. Great job!
Cheers!
Cool ... I want photography this forest there :) .... I like this photos :)
Thanks!
