Last week we infiltrated the land of golf and timeshares to observe and document the critters there. Our infiltration was successful, but we were less so in our mission. Apparently they'd already started hibernating for the winter so there wasn't much to observe.
If you can't shoot what you want then shoot what you can. The game warden always frowned upon this but with Nikons they're less of a concern. With that in mind we set out to see what we could see.
Reflections. It was cold and clear without much wind so there were plenty of reflections to shoot. Kept the interactions with the mouthbreathers to a minimum as well.
Found the largest masonry structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps back in the Great Depression. That's not it in the photo above but the first and last photos of this are of it.
Found a species previously believed to be extinct. It didn't have a pulse dial tone so it may have just been a well preserved fossil.
Sometimes it's necessary to look down on things. It helps if you have the high ground...
Eventually wound up right back where we started, which was kinda nice since that was where we'd left the car. Now that we're back in Louisville I'm starting to wonder if we should go back when the critters aren't hibernating. Anyways, Happy Monday!
Is this a pair of pants with nobody inside them?
🤣🤣🤣
Not quite. I took that looking straight down over the side of a bridge, it's the reflection of that thing at the right edge of the shot. It's some sort of cross beam for the bridge, the decking sits on top of it. The photo above the one of the pay phone shows the bridge I took it from.
Nice series here. Love the 'shoot what you can'. You never know what you'll come up with. I particularly like the contraption with no pulse! As well as the last two reflection shots. Nice work.
Thanks! Not knowing what you'll come up with is half the fun I think 😎 I didn't think there were any of those contraptions left out in the wild, couldn't pass up the chance to get some photos of one before they disappeared forever. Thanks for dropping by!
Never a disappointment on Jethro's page. Bravo, again. I give up, what in the hell is that under the preserved fossil?
I think it might be a reflection of the Rorschach Inkblot test, That or he gave the camera Acid before shooting. Could also be My brain on drugs?
I just looked again. You got a pretty trippy brain then cuz I still can't figure it out.
Not sure how long I could possibly look at something without knowing what it is but I like it.
I think the Inkblot gave Rorschach the LSD, who surreptitiously dosed my Nikon 😎
Lol, if you look down over the side of the bridge in the photo above the fossil, that's what you see.
Ahhh! Nice. Thank you.
As always wicked pictures man, I've been playing with black and white myself lately, Out of 400 pictures I have 1 I don't hate. At this rate Ill have a post ready sometime before Christmas 2023
Thanks. Lol, you're getting there! I count it as doing good if I get 1 I like out of 100 but sometimes I'll take hundreds without getting anything. Sometimes after you let'em sit for a while you can go back and look at old stuff and find new ones to like.
I hope that's the case, gonna need an extra hard drive to store all the rejects at this rate!
That's probably a safe bet, I think I'm up to 5 hard drives. At least their capacity keeps growing too...
