Do You Read Me?

Mayday, mayday, we're all gonna pay. It's Never Forget Day! As if anyone who was alive then could forget. Or anyone who wasn't understand it. It is kind of amazing what we've managed to forget in the aftermath. PATRIOT Act, extraordinary rendition, black sites and drone strikes, Guantanamo Bay.

Can remember it like it was yesterday, we were fighting a war on terror to make the world safe for capitalism democracy. Last I looked, the 'law and order' party was running a convicted felon and the loyal opposition was attempting the old bait-and-switch, so that seems to have worked out well.

Hindsight is a funny thing. Looking back, you can pick out the line between those nineteen men on that September morning and the millions dead and displaced since. Afghanistan, Iraq, Daesh, the Syrian (un)civil war and the migrant 'crisis' it spawned, hell even Netanyahu's reboot (sequel?) can be laid at their feet.

Reminds me of the old saying, "We have met the enemy and he is us." 9/11 was terrible, and then we went and unleashed something even worse. We all get to pay the butcher's bill, meanwhile the cycles of retaliation and revenge continue unabated. As Bruce Willis would say, yippee-kiyay motherfuckers!
