Flaming Power Line Blues

You know it's Monday when you go to leave the house and the damn power line bursts into flames. Never seen anything like it, turned the corner onto the main road and a block down the street there was a cloud of smoke and about fifty foot or more of power line blazing away. @splatts you wouldn't happen to have an idea what could cause such a situation would you?

Wasn't able to stop and get photos, it was across the street from a high school and school was letting out. Did remind me of a close call from a few months back though, came home to find a limb dangling from the line bringing power from the pole to the house. It'd missed catching the neighbor's line too by a few inches, which might have been a little exciting.

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to get photos of something you don't see every day (at least around here). Mother Nature had a second sword of Damocles further up in the tree so when the power company sent someone out to remove them I had to get my long lens out and shoot away.

Wasn't the only one enjoying the show though. Ended up being a double bonus, got photos and firewood.

Surprisingly we never lost power, so the only blues around here are of the Monday variety but somebody was having a bad day. Anybody else have a fiery Monday?

That's an impressive looking chin on that fellow; I once knew an orc who had a chin like that.

You ain't kidding. Ha, I've known a couple myself, they seemed to have a fondness for state police uniforms.

Orcs and Uruk-hai are everywhere, tricksy things that they are.

I salute all the linemen. They risk their lives to provide good service to people.
Good thing you feature them in your of as a medium of your photography.

Amen. I took an electrical class back in high school, was enough to convince me that that wasn't the job for me and left me with plenty of respect for the ones who do the work.

Flaming power lines are not a good look at all. We had a burning underground cable a while ago, I suspect it was caused by poor jointing
