The Romans built aqueducts, we build overpasses. Underpasses too. There's quite a few of them here in Louisville and most of them are just as good for photography as they are armed robbery. They have a unique feel to them, somewhere between prison passageway and nuclear war bunker. Maybe it's all the concrete and car exhaust.
This one is a bit famous, we just call it the Can Opener. It's a bit on the low side and seldom does a week pass that it doesn't take a bite out of a least one semi trailer. In a way it's a testament to humanity, despite all the sensors and electronic signs to warn overheight drivers it never fails to strike again.
In Louisville even the overpasses have overpasses. There's one part of town with so many of them intertwined that we just call it Spaghetti Junction. Almost makes up for the bridges that are always closing for emergency repairs.
People here tend to drive like pedestrians don't exist, so sometimes it's worth it to walk through these TV crime scene passageways.
In 2020, when covid hit road traffic dropped considerably. Road deaths actually when up however, for reasons that may have something to do with how a Nissan bumper ended up in a bus stop trash can. Wonder if you can recycle that?
Great photos!
heh. There was a low height bridge in my hometown in Indiana that trucks were constantly getting stuck in. No matter what reality says, people are always confident that they can bend physics by sheer willpower.
Thank you!
Some laws you just can't break 🤣 Guess there will always be optimists though, to entertain the rest of us.
It's even funnier because the can opener is located right next to University of Louisville's Speed School of Engineering, you'd think they'd have been able to do something about it by now.
Wow, the first photo really impressed me, but I was wondering what you meant by that photo there. About the Romans.
Was the passage built by the Romans as a aqueducts. Then now it is used as a highway there??
The Romans were lost to history long before that passage was built, it's likely not more than a century old at most. I was more speaking to how aqueducts are associated with the Romans in part because of their propensity for building them and wondering if history will remember our fondness for building overpasses similarly.
Ouhh I began to understand, thank you for the explanation, I got a new experience in terms of knowledge.
The fuge point in that first photo is truly a majestic thing!... Bravo!

Saludos amigo, es cierto se ven un poco tenebroso, yo no caminaría por allí solo ..
De noche no, seguro. Definitivamente estuve atento a ambos extremos durante todo el tiempo que estuve filmando.
Esa es la idea, estar pendiente..
Lagos drivers also drive crazily just like the pedestrians do not exist as you have said and some people still do not use the pedestrian bridges
Ha, I have heard tales of Lagos drivers, doesn't sound like it's for the faint of heart. There's no telling with some people I suppose.
Thanks!

Whenever the images are converted to black and white, their beauty increases and the way we see these streets are very beautiful.
