Sunday March For Tyre

Had us a little march for #JusticeforTyre here in Louisville Sunday. When I say little, I mean there were nine of us.

Amber Brown, one of the activists and organizers from the protests here in 2020 put it together but turnout wasn't much like 2020. Then again, the whole response to the murder of Tyre Nichols has been a lot more muted than I would have ever guessed after 2020.

Our fearless and intrepid leader was undeterred by our numbers. Luckily there's no mandatory minimum for a protest, so we took to Frankfort Avenue.

It's always good to discomfit those comfortable with the status quo. Nothing's really changed here in Louisville, and as what happened in Memphis illustrated, nothing has really changed with policing in this country either.

It was good to get out and remind people of that. Judging by the looks we were getting from customers of the places we were marching past, it doesn't take numbers to make people uncomfortable.

Supposed to do it again this coming Sunday so we'll see what happens. Until then, say his name!

Sort:

Tyre.

We'll make an activist out of you yet! Not sure exactly what sort of critter that is but I got called that for being there...

También me encantan los paseos en grupo. Muy bien querido amigo

¡Gracias! Es difícil superar salir con un buen grupo de personas :)

Beautiful 🥰🥰

Thank you!

Welcome 🤗

Bless you for rubbing their faces in their failure to address the actual issue that killed many more than just Tyre, and has nothing to do with black or white or race at all: police never being held to account for crimes. The very contrast between the raging riots over manufactured racism that were drummed up by media indoctrinators and your peaceful little band has to set off alarms in the backs of everyone's mind that sees you, and become inescapably obvious if they actually give it a place at the forefront of their thoughts.

It's that last little straw that stops the camel, after all.

Thanks!
