[Life could be a long calm river] [9]

in Black And White3 years ago

For this series of photos I ventured into a town that was previously industrialized and today is considered to be devastated by very heavy unemployment.
Iron ore is abundant there but too much sulfur which made the metal of lower quality than that of Alsase. This department sold transformed metal transported by the river and also agriculture and animal husbandry was another activity produced by this department. When the agricultural equipment began to become more efficient, the personnel working in the fields was less and less solicited and by this biet created the beginning of the end of this department. The metal crisis followed, taking with it many families to move to other regions to find work. As far as this Bourg is concerned, work is now based on tourism and telework, which has made it possible to reinvigorate the sector.

The old stone bridge which at peak times can get stuck. The flow of water is still high it has been raining a lot on its last days and the river must be given time to absorb the cubic meters of water that the small surrounding river relays in continuous flow

There I was on the terrace of a cafe. The view there is magnificent. I pass this town regularly as part of my work and I like to stop to eat and take a break after several hundred kilometers travelled.

Here is the view of the parking lot where I left my car to make my stop halfway to my second appointment. We see that a rather modern mill was diverting water to use hydropower

A weeping willow is a tree that likes soil that has water nearby. Its other particularity of being pretty is that at times during the day it will start to drop water from its leaves in the form of foam. A mixture of water and mineral salt taken from the ground. It grows very quickly and can become very large and overgrown. When it becomes very big the plants below have difficulty growing. You will see it later on another photo on the other side of the river.

The cobblestones placed on the bank along the river the grass have settled between them giving relief to the whole

Before arriving in this small town I always do a little quiet pose in this place. We can if we wish touch the water or even enjoy the calm that reigns there nature and wild animals

ap.jpg

This photo is located on the other side of the bank and if you look well at the bottom on the left just before the big building you will see the famous weeping willow. As I said a little earlier you can see this boat waiting for potential tourists for a long walk on the river

ao.jpg

The testimony of the past with its 19th century bourgeois houses reserved exclusively for the boss of the mines and steel works of the department

Finally the ugliest panorama. The all-concrete bridge with the grain silos in the distance through which all the cereals in the region are transported by barge on this river and redistributed throughout France.
Thank you for watching and reading this little report from an unknown little town that will surely remain so forever hahahaha
