Game Maen Aneuk Gulie
Maen Aneuk Gulie
is a traditional game played by village children in Aceh, this game is passed down from generation to generation by people in villages, especially in Aceh. When I was little I used to play games like this, so I know exactly how happy I am when I play this Aneuk Gulie game.
Portrait of aceh children, Aneuk gulie player
This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge hosted by @monochromes.
Aneuk Gulie is a name from the Acehnese language which means marbles, the marbles played by these children are round glass, there are several types of games that can be played to bet on marbles. The types of games that exist and can be played in this picture are:
- Maen Kotak
- Maen Uruk
- Maen pelo
- dan maen kleung
Of the several games that can be played with Aneuk Gulie, I took pictures of children playing Aneuk Gulie Maen Kotak, this game bets Marbles in the box, each player places a stake of 3 to 5 marbles, then each player has to sit 3 meters apart from the box of marbles at stake, so that each player throws 1 marble using his finger until it hits the box so that every marble at stake in the city goes out of the box line, if it hits the marble and the marble goes out of line then the marble belongs to the winner.
Portrait of a losing player but still smiling,
Next, I invited them to take pictures with the freestyle they did, and actually what I want to do in this post is not this game, but I focus on the photography that I want to share in this current post.
I told these kids that defeat is a common thing in a game, and now you have to smile and freestyle then I'll take your picture, and they line up happily and happily smiling.
Aneuk Gulie's Shape
Here are the shapes of the marbles that the children played with, they put them on the ground by drawing a rectangle.
These marbles can be purchased at the market at a price of Rp. 1000, - IDR / 5 pcs or the equivalent of $.0,1, - /5 pcs USD
Aneuk Gulie Winner's Smile
I have done a contest to the winners of this Aneuk Gulie game, I told them who is the winner in this game then I will buy them 100 Marbles to them, then between them get 2 children as winners so each child gets 50 marbles per person.
Then I took a picture of them as the winner's greeting, the happy smile they got made me happy too.
Here I show some shots of children playing aneuk gulie at a friend's old house, this field is indeed wide, I think this place is free for children to play, this yard is often used as a place for children to play. No wonder the children gather here in the afternoon.
The end of my post, thank you for visiting and reading this post, that's what I can share in today's post, hopefully it will be useful and introduce each other to the differences between countries around the world. This is our culture, what about your local culture?

very fun game. but in the millennial year now many games when I was a child were lost to the times. children now prefer to play gadgets
I think city kids have lost a lot of old games, they tend to have gadgets and online games instead of playing traditional games I think
