Street photography is one of the most interesting genres and the one that has captivated me from the beginning to the point of making me join this world and field. Since I started I have been on the streets practicing and taking pictures, visiting places, getting to know my cameras and the technical aspects of them, driven by the desire to acquire different lenses, improved equipment, accessories that make me improve my work and more.
However, the more I delve into this genre, the more I am convinced that what I have just mentioned becomes a secondary aspect. I have dedicated time to observe, study and appreciate street photography from the perspective and work of the greatest photographers, what better than learning from the best, oldest and most relevant artists?
La fotografía de calle es uno de los géneros más interesantes y el que me ha cautivado desde un principio a tal punto de hacer que me incorpore en este mundo y ámbito. Desde que empecé he estado en las calles practicando y tomando fotos, visitando lugares, conociendo mis camaras y los aspectos tecnicos de éstas, impulsado por el afán de adquirir diversos lentes, equipos mejorados, accesorios que me hagan mejorar el trabajo y más.
Sin embargo mientras más profundizo en este género, me convenzo de que esto que acabo de mencionar pasa a ser un aspecto secundario. He dedicado tiempo a observar, estudiar y apreciar la fotografía de calle desde la perspectiva y trabajo de los más grandes fotógrafos. ¿Que mejor que aprender de los mejores, más antiguos y relevantes artistas?
In the beginning I should mention that I used to take pictures at random and among so many photos I would select a few that I liked the most, nowadays that has changed a lot. At the moment of taking this kind of pictures let's say that I go out to "hunt" moments. Patience is key and to have attractive results we must understand what is happening in the streets, know the place where we are and know what we can get out of it.
The human element is usually the main point of focus although many times the absence of people is a fact. I believe that when we go out we should wait for a fact, a moment, since a photo should tell a story, it should convey that something is happening there. Too bad that lately I don't have much free time 😅
En un principio debo mencionar que tomaba fotos al azar y entre tantas fotos seleccionaba algunas pocas que más me gustaban, hoy en día eso ha cambiado mucho. Al momento de hacer este tipo de fotografías digamos que salgo a "cazar" momentos. La paciencia es algo clave y para tener resultados atractivos debemos comprender lo que está pasando en las calles, conocer el lugar donde estamos y saber que provecho podemos obtener de éste.
El elemento humano suele ser el principal punto de enfoque aunque muchas veces la ausencia de las personas es un hecho. Considero que al salir debemos esperar un hecho, un momento, ya que una foto debería contar una historia, debería transmitir que allí está sucediendo algo. Lastima que últimamente no tengo mucho tiempo libre 😅
I have learned to wait for those moments, to look at the structures, the type of light and what combinations I can make between the person and their environment, the geometry and the actions. Just as I have also learned to include in my compositions people who literally walk through.... Yes, before it bothered me that this happened and I thought that they hindered my compositions, the truth is that they are usually very interesting and in this series I share with you a couple of pictures of this.
When I say that the technical aspect is secondary in relation to the equipment I mean that the scene is the most important thing, what is happening there and that can be captured even using a phone, a reflex camera with an 18-55mm kit lens or Full Frame equipment.
He aprendido a esperar esos momentos, a mirar las estructuras, el tipo de luz y que combinaciones puedo hacer entre la persona y su entorno, la geometría y las acciones. Así como también he aprendido a incluir en mis composiciones personas que literalmente se atraviesan... Sí, antes me molestaba que esto sucediera y pensaba que entorpecían mis composiciones, la verdad es que suelen ser muy interesantes y en ésta serie les comparto un par de fotos de esto.
Cuando hablo de que el aspecto técnico es secundario en relación a los equipos me refiero a que la escena es lo más importante, lo que allí está sucediendo y eso se puede capturar incluso utilizando un teléfono, una cámara réflex con un lente de kit 18-55mm o equipos Full Frame.
On one occasion a person asked me if the people I was taking pictures of on the street had given me permission to do so, and others have told me that it is not right to take pictures of people without their consent. Well, does that person know the real essence of street photography? Are you going to go out on the streets and ask permission from every person you take a picture of?
This is what street photography is all about, to transmit from the most spontaneous events and actions, it is what happens in front of our eyes, the moments, they are stories. The street photographer must go unnoticed, blend into the crowd and be part of the environment.
En una ocasión una persona me preguntó que si esas personas a las que les tomaba fotos en la calle me habían dado permiso para ello y otras me han dicho que no está bien tomarle fotos a personas sin su consentimiento. Bueno, acaso esa persona conoce la verdadera escencia de la fotografía de calle? ¿Saldrás a las calles a pedirle permiso a cada persona a la que le tomes foto?
La fotografía de calle se trata de esto, de transmitir desde lo más espontáneo los sucesos y las acciones, es lo que pasa frente a nuestros ojos, los momentos, son historias. El fotógrafo de calle debe pasar desapercibido, mezclarse entre la multitud y formar parte del entorno.
The place where I took these photos is in the neighborhood of San Nicolás, between emblematic places such as the Plaza de Mayo, the Buenos Aires Cathedral and the Metropolitan Cathedral, being my entry for the monomad challenge today and thanking for those who have taken the time to stop by and appreciate the photos.
El lugar donde tomé estas fotos es en el barrio de San Nicolás, entre lugares emblemáticos cómo la plaza de mayo, el cabildo de Buenos Aires y la catedral metropolitana, siendo mi entrada para el reto monomad el día de hoy y agradeciendo por aquellas personas que se han tomado el tiempo de pasar y apreciar.

Se ha roto el mito😂😂😂 con cualquier lente hago fotografías de calle, incluso con el teléfono en gran angular. No hay limitantes 😁 muchas gracias por pasar amigo 🙏🏻💫
