On the banks of the Danube, SC May 25 in the middle of April

in Black And White13 days ago

In one of the most beautiful parts of Dorćol, in the area of the Lower Town, under the Kalemegdan fortress, on the shore of the confluence of the Sava and the Danube and opposite the Great War Island, there is one of the three large city swimming pools, which was built for the purpose of holding the first world swimming championship, which was held in Belgrade in 1973.

For many years, the pool was called "Sports Center 25 May", in honor of the birthday of Yugoslav President Tito, and in 2011, this sports center changed its name to "Sports Center Milan Gale Muškatirović", in honor of the Yugoslav water polo goalkeeper.

The widely recognizable appearance of the building of this sports center is the work of architect Ivan Antic, who used a modernist, geometric and functional style when designing this complex, leaving an object for future generations to enjoy.

Considering that I also spent half of my life on the banks of the Danube, I regularly visited this sports center and swimming pools.

The width of the Danube near the 25 May sports center has always seemed so large to me, as if it were a lake.

I often knew how to sit on one of the benches, listen to the sound of the waves hitting the landscaped concrete shore, watch the reporters pushing the big barges, and sometimes feed the ducks and grebes that were swimming in the river.

But this time, when I got down to the shore, the walk was not so pleasant.
There were, as always, a lot of people, I saw a big barge pushing a powerful tugboat upstream, I also took pictures of a few swans.

But there was also a lot of waste, which was washed ashore by the Danube when the water level was high.

I could have put these photos in #Shitphotography, because I really took this shit, but as I photographed them in #blackandwhite (because that was my mood when I saw what the river bank looked like), and since today is Monday, I put them in #Monomad

I'm sorry that I was pressed for time and that I didn't have some bags with me to remove at least plastic bottles and aluminum cans from the shore, and I wasn't even in a company that would help me get this floating refrigerator out of the water, but I sent the picture to an online portal and asked them to inform the utility services.

Come on, wooden branches and fallen trees, the flood wave can take it downstream, but it's a shame that a discarded old refrigerator is floating in this big river.

Someone threw the whole refrigerator into the river, someone left these plastic spoons instead of throwing them in the bin.

I'm sorry that there are people living in this city who are ready for such a thing.

I will also put a pin for #worldmappin on this location, and I sincerely hope that if any of you walk along this coast, along the long path next to the river, which is also decorated with a beautiful rose garden, that they will not find the garbage and debris from the river that I found.

Sort:

Why would they throw the refrigerator into the lake and leave those spoons behind? They are clearly polluting Mother Earth. I feel so sad.

They throw garbage around because they are scumbags who don't think about the fact that this planet should live on after us.
I already wrote, I'm sorry to live next to someone who can behave irresponsibly, arrogantly and sickly.
the question is whether punishments would solve such a character.
