In one of my walks, camera in hand, I met a colleague in the middle of an outdoor photo shoot of a quinceañera and all that goes with this activity in the historic center. The classic dresses, almost always several, the companions in the session, the make-up artist, the friends, the family member.... On many occasions the protagonist does not always feel happy or at ease in these exhausting sessions, but the photo always shows a beautiful smile, or at least an attempt at a smile.
I remember my sister at her quinceañera, photos all over Havana, tremendous heat, the entourage following and assisting all the time. At times my sister's face and eyes showed the desperate desire for the end of that day. But tradition is tradition, damned tradition. Luckily my daughter doesn't like those things, on her fifteenth birthday she asked for a wall climbing adventure with her friends, and so it was, we had a great day, and at the end of the day she was very satisfied with her decision. Hola apasionados del blanco y negro y del oficio de la fotografía en todos los sentidos. Foto al fotógrafo, si, de eso trata esta publicación. Es un poco raro hacerle fotos a un fotógrafo, aunque no siempre, por ejemplo en los making off, se hace a menudo. Pero acá no presento un making off aunque parece. En una de mis caminatas cámara en mano me encuentro a un colega en pleno proceso de sesión de fotos exteriores a una quinceañera y todo lo que conlleva está actividad en el casco histórico. Los clásicos vestidos, varios casi siempre, las acompañantes en la sesión, la maquillista, la amiga o amigo, el familiar... En muchas ocasiones la protagonista no siempre se siente feliz o a gusto en estas agotadoras sesiones, pero en la foto siempre sale la bella sonrisa, o al menos el intento de sonrisa. Recuerdo a mi hermana en sus quince, fotos por toda La Habana, tremendo calor, el séquito siguiendo y asistiendo todo el tiempo. Por momentos mi hermana dejaba mostrar en su rostro y su mirada el deseo desesperado de la llegada a su fin de esa jornada. Pero la tradición es la tradición, maldita tradición. Por suerte a mi hija no le agradan esas cosas, en sus quince pidió de regalo una aventura de escalada de muros con sus amigos, y así fue, pasamos un día genial, y ella al final del día quedó muy satisfecha con su decisión.
