Today, I want to share these photographs I took for Isabela to use for casting and on her social media. Isabela is a young woman who wants to step into the modeling world and hired me to create some polaroids—basic portfolio shots for castings. While I did take those, I also included photos that I personally enjoyed creating because the polaroid style isn’t one I particularly love.
Hoy quiero compartirles estas fotografías que le hice a Isabela para que las use para casting y también para sus redes. Isabela es una chica joven que desea entrar un poco en el mundo del modelaje y me contrató para hacerle unas fotos polas, como les llaman, y se las hice, pero también incluí fotografías que a mí me gustaran porque el pola no es como un estilo que a mí me guste mucho hacer.
Whenever I do polaroid shoots, I always include my own style of photos because that’s how I feel most comfortable. Polaroids are functional—they’re meant for castings and as a basic portfolio for models. However, as a photographer, I don’t find much fulfillment in them. I prefer to create photographs I can feel proud of, which is why I looked for those opportunities here as well.
Siempre que hago este tipo de fotos polas incluyo mis fotografías no polas porque es como me siento cómodo. Las polas son fotos funcionales para hacer castings y como un archivo básico que debes tener como modelo, pero yo como fotógrafo no encuentro mucho ahí dentro. Me gusta hacer fotografías de las que me sienta orgulloso, y por eso también las busqué aquí.
Photography, like most fields, has professionals who focus on the basics (which are important) and others who like to push boundaries and explore. Just like the masters of staged photography who venture beyond reality itself, I aspire to reach those heights someday. For now, I’m happy creating something that brings me joy.
La fotografía, como en la mayoría de los rubros, cuenta con personas que se dedican a básicos (que son importantes) y otros que les gusta ir un poco más allá y explorar. Así como los máximos exponentes del montaje que directamente se salen hasta de la realidad, a mí me gustaría llegar allí. Pero me siento cómodo haciendo algo que me haga feliz.
