Hyllus or Pellenes - Monomad challenge

in Black And White5 days ago

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge hosted and curated by @monochromes

Although I was so happy to be able to photograph this jumping spider, I had another issue when I wanted to make a post about this spider. I think it is a common problem that I face when I want to make a post about the subject that I photograph because most of the time it is quite hard to find the exact name of the subject that I have in the internet.

Some of them are very similar with very few differences but somehow they can be a far family, not even in the same genus, and then the species is completely different.

Just like when I want to make a post about this spider, I have to select a few genera that are similar to it, then I have the Hyllus and Pelenes Genera. It is either Pellenes tripunctatus or Hyllus diardi

Then after a few back-and-forths comparing the spider that I have and those species online, I think it is safe to say that the one I have here is from the Hyllus diardi Mostly it is because of the long hairs that make it species to the Hyllus genera, and also the marking it has at the end of the abdomen. So what do you think? is it Hyllus or Pellenes?

The long hairs make it look distinguished!

Give it a year and I’m sure you’ll be able to plug one of those pictures into AI and it will get it for you lol. You could probably do it now but it would cost money which we don’t want!

haha we are at the same page of not wanting to spend some money plugging the photo into AI, but I guess some of my work might already been used by Ai, since I also submitted some of my photo on some of the Photostock site.

really love to have him as my subject this time. hope to see it again in the future. ;)

Excellent quality pictures, the way where you look for the black background contrasts with the spider and gives it a lot of prominence, very good pictures 📸👌✅️
