The plowing (also known as Luku) is an agricultural tool used to loosen soil before planting and sowing seeds, it is also one of the simplest and most useful tools in history.

In the early days of agriculture began to develop, humans only used shovels, It is easy for people living in very fertile areas such as on the banks of the Nile, where annual floods always renew the soil in the area. However, in order to regularly cultivate in less fertile areas, the soil must first be loosened so that after that it can make grooves for sowing seeds.

The main purpose of plowing is to bring the deep, fertile soil to the surface. The plow is usually pulled by a cow. However, in some areas of poor and developing countries, plows are pulled by horses. Meanwhile, in developed countries, fossil fuel-powered plows have been used.
