I prefer Lisboa. Genova is a chaotic labyrinth inside with tiny backstreets on steep slopes that even with a motorcycle it's hard to make a U turn if you go wrong. To give you an idea here's two of my incidents there:
a) Unable to find my airbnb despite the aid from my Google maps I call my host. She comes out and tells me "All GPS system fail here, only one guest of mine managed to find my place straight and he was using TOM TOM (one of the best).
b) On my departure day I loose my way out of the city and I stop a scooter with two girls on to ask them directions. They tell me "we also go out of the city so just follow us". I say "great, sorry but it's my first time here" and they say "oh no worries, we also loose our way here".
That said its definitely interesting to walk if you have the mood and ability to walk a lot. Here's my trip there: https://www.orestistrips.com/my-trips/fd-tour-montenegro-croatia-slovenia-switzerland-italy/part8genova

Lovely city and I would not mind at all spending a day on walking round. That one narrow street there is really narrow :D

Sure, neither did I. Crazy narrow indeed!
