There is a temple at 3600 meters in the Indian Himalayas, named Rudranath, and this temple is very famous among Hindus and it is believed that a person becomes free from sins by visiting here and also attains salvation after leaving the body. These beliefs are old, from the time when there was Satyug. There was no sin, malice and hatred in Satyug. But I do not see this principle being applicable in today's time because today people are committing sins every day.
Centuries ago, in 788 AD, when Adi Guru Shankaracharya was born, the society was like heaven. There was no problem neither among the people nor in the food habits of the people. Life was as wonderful as we dream about now. At that time, if by mistake a person thought something which should not have been thought, then to atone for his sin, people used to go on foot to temples like Rudranath.
There were no facilities at that time, the wheel had been invented but the wheel came very late to the Indian Himalayas, due to which people had to travel thousands of kilometers from their homes. People used to set out with a small bag and the villages on the way welcomed them and provided food and accommodation to the travelers.
When the traveler reached Gopeshwar after crossing the cities, from where the difficult path began, there was no village, no human being beyond this. There is only forest on the mountain and wild animals living in it. If it is written in fate, then man-eating animals will eat the traveler and if not, then the traveler will reach his destination by walking on the difficult paths of the Himalayas, which is known as Rudranath Temple.
When the traveler enters the temple premises fighting with the snow, tears start flowing from his eyes because this long walk has broken the ego within him. The traveler considers himself an insignificant creature and sits in front of Lord Rudra and tells him his sins and leaves the decision to God. The traveler is ready for any judgment. If he gets death right now, he will gladly accept it.
After meditating in the Himalayas for a few days, the traveler returns because now he has to go home and work on himself. He comes back and meditates, does social work and clears his thoughts. Then one day he leaves his body smiling. At the last moment, he sees Lord Rudra, Rudra tells him that you have become free from sins...now your abode is my refuge. And in this way our life is connected with the temples and mountains situated in the Indian mountains.
This is my entry for #monomad challenge.
