Mountains were once unknown but not anymore. Wherever man had not reached before, that place was unknown but now man has flown helicopters over every mountain and has seen what is on the top. Many mountains must have been nameless once but not anymore, now all have names and I also went to one such very famous mountain where the temple of Hindu God Shiva is situated which is famous by the name of Tungnath.
On 25 December, when the whole world was celebrating Christmas, I was climbing a snowy mountain. 7.5 km long trekking, that too on snow, is difficult and on top of that I am very lazy. Before coming here, I used to just lie on my bed and now when I have got an excuse to walk, my legs are refusing to work hard.
There are only problems in walking here, one is that this place is above the tree line so there is very little oxygen here, the little vegetation helps in producing oxygen but that too is buried in snow, the altitude here is 4000 meters so the air itself is very cold and thin due to which breathing is difficult at every step.
It was good that I had come wearing my trail running shoes, otherwise I would have slipped and rolled down just like the other people were slipping on the snow. Since this is peak winter, there is snow all around, a lot of snow fell just 2 days ago due to which today our eyes are getting to see a white view. There are many people ahead of me and even more behind me....like me, everyone's destination is to reach Chandrashila Peak.
After trekking a total of 15 km to and fro, my legs have become a little swollen due to snow and walking, however the mountains also help a lot in swelling. Well after coming down I just rested for 2 days which helped me recover well. So this is today's post in which you saw the Indian Himalayan mountains through black and white negative. I hope you liked this post.
This is my entry for #monomad challenge.
