Winters are leaving Himalayas and I am saying that this time winters have not affected me much because I go swimming almost every day in a river near my house. The name of this river is Sahastradhara. It is named so because thousands of streams of water flow from the sulphur mountains present here.
Sahastradhara is present in Uttarakhand state situated in the north of India, it is a religious place where Hindus come to worship Lord Shiva. There is a mix of sulphur and ghadhak in this river, so people come here to take bath so that extreme skin diseases can be cured. Except for monsoons, it is very crowded throughout the year.
Although this place is about 250 km away from Delhi, but this religious place just 11 km away from my house is very special for me because I go swimming here almost every weekend. Many times when I feel like it, I reach here by walking or cycling. From here onwards a path also goes towards Mal Devta where the temple of the local deity is situated.
Talking about history, Dronacharya had meditated here and that is why the cave here is named Drona Cave. Dronacharya's statue has also been installed at the mouth of the cave. I like this place a lot because of the natural places, there is a river here, there is a pond of sulfur water, there are mountains for hiking, there are villages to see the local life and there are fruit trees in the forest.
This is my entry for #monomad challenge.
