I'm more “furtive” these days in my streets, I don't need to be observed, I want to take pictures while I feel that I just watching without anything disturbing due to my close presence... This, many times is easy with people, because most of them are usually minding their own business while I go around, wandering around them in the town's streets... But, with animals it's different... Dogs, cats, and even an unexpected duck behind a semi-destroyed wall, all of them seem to have an extra sense and easily notice when I point my camera lens at them... But they don't matter, I don't feel like I'm invading the animals. In fact, sometimes I think that both they and I belong to another world, which is surreptitiously mixed with that of the people in the streets of the town...

I like to look at what happens in my streets, that's obvious, it's no wonder I take street photographs almost every day... However, this is something that not only makes me look outwards, but also makes me look at myself and I call that “looking inwards”... Practicing photography, like any creative activity I suppose, has as a direct consequence the appearance (and here is when I start to sound a bit weird, surely) of a kind of “heightened awareness” in us. And then, once this happens, it is as if our “everyday self” is still there, but we acquire the faculty to observe it as if we were apart. Maybe I am not explaining myself very well, but I am trying to explain what has happened to me, how I have evolved, changed, mutated, throughout my years taking photographs... It seems to me that there is a lot of coincidence in my changes, with those achieved by people who dedicate a good part of their time to practices of self-inquiry, meditation and similar... So maybe photography can also be useful for that...

I like to call my alter-ego “The crazy guy with the camera in hand”... It sounds a bit long and perhaps petulant, but it's not a name I invented, it seems to me that it was born rather in the streets of the town, in the mouths of the people, whose daily lives are mostly spent in a daily effort to earn sustenance, and to whom usually find funny (most of the times) the presence of a guy in the streets talking to dogs and cats while taking pictures...

The everyday Jesús Linares is still here. And he's still worrying about his family, still working, still paying the bills, still missing those who left, hugging those who are still here.... But that Jesus Linares usually goes to rest when I'm out taking pictures, when I'm at my PC processing and dreaming about my images and also when I'm connected to #Hive and sharing what I do in a way I couldn't do in any other place for sure... So, that one over there is “The crazy guy with the camera in hand”... ;)

Oh the duck... how cute! It reminded me of one pet of mine which was a duck! Yes, it was my little duck that followed me everywhere, I bathed it and cuddled it, and when it grew big we took it to my parents' friend's home with a huge backyard where many other animals lived too. During many many years, actually decades now haha, we still say that he lives there 😇
Awww... Nice story... Yes, they can do that, attach to a person and follow them everywhere, my sisters and I also had ducks when we were kids :( ... This duck in my photo seemed to be watching me "semi-hidden" behind that piece of ruined wall :))... Now there are few ducks here, people prefer to have chickens!... Thanks for stopping by and appreciate my work @mipiano friend!
Yes, the semi-hidden duck seems to practiced how to pose hahaha. He must be a distant relative of my duck 😆
Great collection of B/W street photos! Despite being "ordinary street photos", I like how every photo tells a story... Some of them are sad stories, and others are happy!
Like those "Brothers" (in arms)... 😃

That's how the streets are, sometimes sad, other times happy, but always eloquent! ;)... I'm glad you like this work @ph1102 friend, thank you very much for your appreciation and support!
The best thing about being a photographer is that within the job we allow ourselves that “certain” break. It has to do with contentment and introspection. Two things that serve to release daily burdens. You continue to enjoy and delight us with your stories.
Thank you for this motivating message @nanixxx friend!!!

Thanks @victorbz friend!... That "self-portrait" is in an old car lying on the street, where it is impossible for me to stop taking a photo every time I pass by!!! :))
