“If you decide to remain still, at least let it be at the edge of a road, then you will see others passing by and you'll feel like going on again”... That was something my father often said, and he said it more often when he was overindulging with whiskey and feeling a bit “philosophical” to say it somehow... But, regardless of what my father said, I think all human beings have a certain fascination with roads. Perhaps because it is almost obligatory to cross one when leaving home, or more probably because life itself is a road which we must walk and then we associate one with the other...
I love walking... Lately I have also taken up the habit of going for long bike rides, which I also like... But the way of moving that I love the most is walking... It seems to me that during my professional stage I spent so much time in a car, or in an office, that now for me it has become a treasure... And to walk daily I need roads and fortunately this small town where I have always lived, is full of hundreds of roads, ways, paths, passages and the like around... That's why a good part of my repertoire of photos are on roads, and from that kind of photos is built this publication that I brought for you today in #monomad...
Yo amo caminar...
I could spend hours philosophizing about the roads, their virtues and meanings, but in reality, beyond anything else, it seems to me that the roads serve me to think, and not to think about banal things, but to turn my thoughts inwards, to introspect... So, that explains in a way why for me photography and paths go together in this kind of “kit” that for more than two decades I have used as a catalyst for a change that had to happen in me... And this, it seems to me, has been a good thing that has happened to me...
