Regardless of being born and having always lived in this town (53 years and counting), I can still find roads along which I have never passed before. Some of these photographs are taken on such a path. It is only a little more than a kilometer long, but it connects two main roads that cross the valley in the rural areas north of town, a place I regularly visit for exercise and photography...

Sin importar el haber nacido y vivido siempre en este pueblo (53 años y contando), aún puedo encontrar caminos a lo largo de los cuales nunca había pasado antes. Algunas de estas fotografías son realizadas en un camino así. Se trata de un sendero de apenas poco más de un kilometro, pero el mismo conecta dos caminos principales que atraviesan el valle en las áreas rurales al Norte del pueblo, un lugar el cual suelo visitar con regularidad con el objetivo de ejercitarme y hacer fotografías...

Curiously, I discovered this new trail thanks to this dog “sitting” on the edge of the main road. It was a quiet dog and seemed indifferent to my presence, but suddenly he got up and went into a side road which I always thought was the entrance to some property, but when I wanted to follow the dog (which disappeared in the dry grass almost immediately) I noticed that the trail seemed to go into the valley to the west so I decided to follow it. There I observed some small mud houses and others built with metal sheets, some corrals with cows, crops, farms with tractors and some landscapes of the valley with perspectives that I had not observed before...

Curiosamente, descubrí este nuevo sendero gracias a ese perro "sentado" al borde del camino principal. Era un perro tranquilo y parecía indiferente ante mi presencia, pero repentinamente se alzó y se adentró por un camino lateral el cual desde siempre pensé era la entrada a alguna propiedad, pero al querer seguir al perro (el cual desapareció en el pasto seco casi de inmediato) me percaté que el sendero parecía adentrarse en el valle hacia el Oeste así que decidí seguirlo. Allí observé algunas pequeñas de barro y otras construidas con laminas metálicas, algunos corrales con vacas, sembradíos, fincas con tractores y algunos paisajes del valle con perspectivas que no había observado antes...

It's March, a month of drought, so the light and contrast levels are complex to shoot, but at the same time provide a level of drama and visual eloquence that is exquisite. In addition, the clear skies, the grasslands, the trees with bare branches and the wire fences all combine for a type of photography that I love to do and that is typically rural. So I tried to enjoy as much as possible the short drive along this newly discovered road, as well as my return along the other familiar ones...

Estamos en marzo, mes de plena sequía, así que la luz y el nivel de contraste son complejos para hacer fotos, pero al mismo tipo proveen un nivel de drama y elocuencia visual exquisitos. Además, los cielos despejados, los pastizales, los árboles con ramas desnudas y las alambradas, todo se combina para un tipo de fotografía el cual amo hacer y que es típicamente rural. Así que procuré disfrutar al máximo el corto trayecto de este recién descubierto camino, así como mi retorno por los otros conocidos...

I met some people on this new path, even a motorcycle passed by me, but they were obviously the same people I often see in this part of the valley, so they were not surprised to see me there and I don't think any of them noticed that I was pleasantly surprised to have found this new path to walk...

Encontré a algunas personas en este nuevo camino, incluso una motocicleta pasó a mi lado, pero obviamente se trataba de las misma personas las cuales suelo ver con frecuencia en este lugar del valle, así que no se sorprendieron de verme allí y creo que ninguno se percató de que yo estaba gratamente sorprendido por haber hallado este nuevo sendero para caminar...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
