This past January was one of pastures wanting to dry out, of roads with dust rising and of a rurality that is embraced by the relentless presence of drought. Despite the high contrasts and the typical visual complexity of the rural landscape at this time of the year, there is no doubt that taking pictures here is something charming...This is a small selection of photographs taken during my walks along the rural properties of the valley these last weeks, in them I take advantage of the backlights, the trees with bare branches, the complex skies, the animals and everything I have at hand in those places, to capture images that go beyond pure landscaping and transmit what happens here from my particular point of view... I invite you then to go ahead and appreciate these photos that I brought today to share with you in #Hive...
El pasado mes de enero fue de pastos queriendo secarse, de caminos con polvaredas levantándose y de una ruralidad que se ve abrazada por la implacable presencia de la sequía. A pesar de los elevados contrastes y de la típica complejidad visual del paisaje rural en esta época del año, es indudable que hacer fotografías aquí es algo encantador...Esta es una pequeña selección de fotografías realizadas durante mis caminatas a lo largo de los predios rurales del valle estas últimas semanas, en ellas aprovecho los contraluces, los árboles con las ramas desnudas, los cielos complejos, los animales y todo lo que tengo a mano en esos lugares, para captar imágenes que vayan más allá del paisajismo puro y transmitan lo que aquí sucede desde mi punto de vista particular... Los invito entonces a seguir adelante y apreciar estas fotos que traje hoy para compartir con ustedes en #Hive...
I reviewed my recent archives, I found photos of my rural environment taken in different areas of our valley, I also tried to select photos in different weather conditions (foggy mornings, sunrises with clear skies and even with partly cloudy skies)... I also tried to balance my selection between wide-angle shots and others with focal distances that would allow for more intimate views of what happens as I walk through these rural spaces with a perception and instinct close to what I develop when I wander the streets of the village. I emphasize this last point because I know that from time to time some of my photos, which I classify as “rural”, can be disconcerting to those who look at them...
Revisé mis archivos recientes, encontré fotos de mi entorno rural realizadas en distintas áreas de nuestro valle, también procuré seleccionar fotos en distintas condiciones climáticas (mañanas con niebla, amaneceres de cielo despejado e incluso con cielos parcialmente nublados). También procuré balancear mi selección entre tomas abiertas y otras con distancias focales que permitiesen visiones mas tendientes a una visión intima de lo que sucede mientras recorro estos espacios campestres con una percepción e instinto cercanos a lo que desarrollo cuando deambulo en las calles del pueblo. Recalco esto último porque sé que de vez en cuando algunas de mis fotos las cuales clasifico como "rurales" pueden desconcertar a quien las mire...
Based on the notable increase in the number of days in which I make excursions to rural areas and even to the mountains, I came to think that the number of photographs suitable for development in monochromatic schemes, would decrease in my archives sensibly. But what I said in the previous paragraph about handling this in a similar way as I do street photography, has resulted in a slight increase instead of a decrease.... I call it "evolution" and it makes me feel good!..... ;)
Basado en el notable incremento del numero de días en los que hago excursiones a los espacios rurales e incluso hacia las montañas, llegué en pensar que el número de fotografías aptas para desarrollar en esquemas monocromáticos, disminuiría en mis archivos sensiblemente. Pero eso que dije en el párrafo previo respecto a manejar esto de manera similar a como hago fotos de calle, ha redundado en que en lugar de disminuir, se incrementen ligeramente... ¡A eso le llamo "evolución" y me hace sentir bien!... ;)

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
