As time went by I realised that the reality is different in this respect... "It's photography which makes me"... Or to be more precise: "It is photography that helps me to understand myself"... After accepting this, I understood a lot of things and a lot of people...
Hola amigos monocromáticos de #Hive... Cuando comencé a hacer fotografía creía eso precisamente: "Creí que yo hacía las fotos"... Con el paso del tiempo comprendí que la realidad es distinta al respecto... "Es la fotografía quien me hace a mi"... O para ser más exacto: "Es la fotografía que la me sirve para entenderme"... Después de aceptar esto, entendí muchas cosas y a muchas personas...
"To pasture"... It's a simple thing, but I always enjoy watching the herds of cattle being put out to pasture in the paddocks... I love these animals... It's a pity that in the end they end up being slaughtered for human consumption... One day, more than three decades ago, I decided to stop eating meat in a sudden way... My wife almost collapsed, ha ha ha!... She can eat almost anything that moves and she couldn't understand how I could live without meat!... But the truth is that since then I stopped eating them and I'm still like that... Now it seems to me that the cows look at me with better eyes!... And this happens to me with chickens, sheep and the like... ha ha ha... :)) This is a story I stole from myself, apparently!....
"A pastar"... Es algo simple, pero siempre me deleito mirando los arreos de ganado cuando son llevados a pastar en los potreros... Me encantan estos animales... Es una lastima el que a la final terminen siendo sacrificados para consumo humano... Una día, hace más de tres décadas atrás, decidí dejar de comer carnes de una forma repentina... ¡Mi esposa casi sufre un colapso, ha ha ha!... ¡Ella puede comer casi cualquier cosa que se mueva y no podía entender como yo iba a vivir sin carnes!... Pero lo cierto es que desde entonces dejé d comerlas y sigo así... ¡Ahora me parece que las vacas me ven con mejores ojos!... Y esto me ocurre con pollos, ovejas y afines... ha ha ha... :)) ¡Esta es una historia que me robé a mi mismo, al parecer!...
"Tocayo" (Namesake)... This is Jesús, a friend with the same name as me... This image of him selling his bananas (he grows them himself) in front of his house is something I often come across on my morning walks... Years ago I was a little envious to see Jesus there, because I was drowning in my problems and he seemed to be simply at peace... Fortunately, now I can look at him and feel that I have some of that tranquillity that I didn't have before...
"Tocayo"... Este es Jesús, un amigo con mi mismo nombre... Esta imagen de él vendiendo sus plátanos (el mismo los siembra) en frente de su casa es algo con lo que me encuentro con frecuencia en mis recorridos mañaneros... Hace años atrás sentía un poco de envidia al mirar a Jesús allí, pues a mi me estaban ahogando mis problemas y él parecía simplemente estar en paz... Afortunadamente, ahora puedo mirarlo y sentir que tengo algo de esa tranquilidad que antes no tenía..
"Yes, in black and white"... History is superfluous in this photo... Some scenes that when you look at them, they are simply there, full of "Black and White"... Despite the colours, these are like that...
"Sí, en Blanco y Negro"... La historia sobra en esta foto... Has y escenas que al mirarlas, simplemente están allí, repletas de "Blanco y Negro"... A despecho de los colores, estas son así...
"Venancio"... This is a story of four photos... The first one is a view of a path that I often walk... It is a road to the north of the village and I like to go there because "That road always has a story to tell"... And this time I met "Venancio", who is the man who appears with a walking stick in the second, third and fourth photos of this group...
"Venancio"... Esta es una historia de cuatro fotos... La primera es una vista de un camino que suelo recorrer con frecuencia... Es un camino al norte del pueblo y me gusta ir allí porque "Ese camino siempre tiene una historia que contar"... Y esta ves me encontré con "Venancio", quien es el señor que aparece con bastón en las segunda, tercera y cuarta foto de este grupo...
"Venancio" is a man of maybe 60 years of age... I used to always see him going to his land to the north of the village on a motorbike and sometimes on a bicycle... In 2020 he suffered and survived the COVID-19 contagion, but unfortunately he had as a consequence of this affliction, a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and this left one of his arms paralysed and also partially one leg.... However, he has continued to go back and forth to his land and has continued to sow and harvest there... It is perhaps a complex story, but it shows how strong the human will can be to overcome the vicissitudes of life.
"Venancio" es un hombre con quizás unos 60 años de edad... Antes siempre le veía ir hacia sus tierras al norte del pueblo sobre una motocicleta y a veces en bicicleta... En 2020 él sufrió y sobrevivió al contagio COVID-19, pero lamentablemente tuvo como consecuencias de esta enfermedad, un accidente cerebro vascular (ACV) y esto dejó uno de sus brazos paralizados y también parcialmente una pierna... Sin embargo, ha seguido yendo y viniendo a sus tierras y ha seguido sembrando y cosechando allí... Quizás es una historia compleja, pero demuestra cuan fuerte puede ser la voluntad humana para sobreponerse a los avatares de la vida.
"Why?"... I think this photo is a damned "cliché"... I don't understand why it is relatively frequent to see old shoes tied together and thrown on the lighting wires so that they stay there until they disintegrate... Crazy people stuff!... But here it is so common to see that since always, that even I once as a child took a pair of shoes, tied them together and threw them to the wires... Unfortunately they were fairly new trainers belonging to my younger sister!.. ha ha ha ha :))...
"¿Porqué?"... Pienso que esta foto es un condenado "cliché"... No entiendo porqué es relativamente frecuente ver viejos zapatos atados entre sí y lanzados a los cables del alumbrado para que queden allí hasta desintegrarse... ¡Cosas de gente loca!... Pero aquí es tan común ver eso desde siempre, que inclusive yo una vez siendo un niño cogí un par de zapatos, los até y los lancé a los cables... ¡Lamentablemente eran unos tenis bastante nuevos pertenecientes a mi hermana menor!.. ha ha ha :))...
"Are you the crazy man who takes pictures?... That's what this little boy asked when I pointed my camera at him... ha ha ha!.... :)) It's not the first time I've been called that, but I can't help but laugh out loud when it happens...
"¿Eres el señor loco que toma fotos?"... Eso fue lo que preguntó este chiquillo cuando le apunté con mi cámara... ha ha ha!... :)) No es la primera vez que me llaman así, pero no puedo evitar reír a carcajadas cuando me sucede...
"For the donkey"... This is what this man answered when I asked him where he was going with so much grass in his wheelbarrow... And then I asked him: And why didn't you bring the donkey to pasture by the side of the road... "Because he is sleepy!".... He answered... Ha ha ha haaaaaaa haaaa.... :)) I love the good humour of my people!...
"Para el burro"... Eso ha contestado este señor cuando le he preguntado a donde iba con tanto pasto en su carretilla... Y luego le pregunté: ¿Y porqué no trajiste el burro a pastar a la orilla del camino?... ¡Porque tiene sueño!... Contestó... Ha ha haaaaa haaaa... :)) ¡Amo el humor de mi gente!...

Ja, ja, ja qué risa lo de los zapatos. Tienes razón, es común ver eso en las calles de Venezuela. Yo personalmente nunca intenté hacerlo, menos con zapatos que no fueran míos. Excelentes fotografías, @jlinaresp. La primera no es tan simple como parece, es muy rica en contrastes y la mirada del muchacho da mucho qué pensar. Saludos.
Es que parece algo obsesivo :))... Hace una década atrás yo viajaba con frecuencia a Caracas y recuerdo una tarde que iba entrando al CCCT en Chacao y miro hacia las lineas del alumbrado en la la calle y ¡carajo!... ¡Un par de botines amarrados por las trenzas colgando de un poste!... ¡Y que yo sepa por ahí no habían chamos jugando en las calles!...
