There are three cities in Venezuela with a metro system.
In Valencia, a small city with over 2.585 million people, only nine out of the 30 planned stations have been built.
Planning began in 1975, but it wasn't until 1997 that a section was inaugurated, and in 2006, only one segment was opened.
The project has been stalled for over 10 years, leaving behind some ruins where some of the machines now sit, having adapted to the environment.
Plants, the sun, and people have found spontaneous uses for the ruins.
Two years ago, the governor used some of the ruins, literally burying them to create a sort of boulevard that only sees activity during the Christmas season.
These photos are of one of the last stations that were never built.

En Venezuela hay tres ciudades con un sistema de metro.
En Valencia, una ciudad pequeña con unos más de 2.585 millones, solo hay nueve estaciones construidas de 30 que formaban parte del proyecto.
En 1975 inició la planificación, pero no fue hasta 1997 y en 2006 se inauguró solamente un tramo.
El proyecto se detuvo desde hace más de 10 años, y quedaron algunas ruinas, donde todavía reposan algunas de las máquinas que ahora se han adaptado al entorno.
Las plantas, el sol, y las mismas personas le dieron un uso a las ruinas de manera espontánea.
Hace dos años el gobernador utilizó unas ruinas para sepultarlas literalmente y así construir una especie de bulevar que solo tiene movimiento durante la época de Navidad.
Estas fotos son de una de las últimas estaciones que no fueron construidas.

I hope this project somehow gives value to the city even though the infrastructure is not completed.

I remember the first time I went to Valencia and I saw all those facilities to build the subway and I'm talking about 18 years ago and they are still there as if they were still there.
