If the perspective and your eyes trick you... let me help... this is a ship.
This is a cruise ship sailing on Danube in front of few heavy industrial buildings and huge cranes.
Now, what may be more entertaining, this is in Romania.
However, the points from where I took all these photographs below, all of them are in Romania.
Moreover, the whole place is just a few kilometers away from Bulgaria.
This characteristic of Europe is quite enlightening, as there are many places on our continent where the national borders of more than two countries cross. Or perhaps a better verb is "meet"?
Serbia.
The riverside town of Kladovo.
One wonderful tranquil afternoon, evening and night, part of a scenery route from Romania via Serbia, ending in Bulgaria.
The beginning and the bigger part of the day I spent in the Hydropower Station that is a few miles up the river but as photography is prohibited there, I cannot show you photos. Still, if you find yourself there, visit it, it is an impressive engineering achievement, it is a rather old now hydropower station, built few decades ago.
So, few hours to "kill" before a late dinner and Serbian cuisine has never let me down.
Traveling in Serbia, one must definitely order "vesalica", if not vegetarian, of course. My favorite vesalica is smoked, I never had something so delicious anywhere else in the world!
So I took the decision to spend those hours by the beautiful Danube river, meet the sunset and then head back to the restaurant and the hotel for the night...
What does all of that have to do with gold?
Well... stick with me and I'll let you know below ;)
I saw teenagers jumping in the water from old mooring ship
Plenty of birds around, water, vast open spaces, what could be better for them?
Preparing to jump...
Somehow the broad huge rivers pacifies...
Bird's observation deck.
... and big splash coming in...
A pipe with running clean water, ideal for the pigeons...
All kinds of sailing things...
One couple swimming together.
Swimming in front of those huge cranes and other industrial equipment felt kind of surreal to me.
There were many moments when the doves were fighting for a better place to take a sip of water or just bathe.
Good for me as I managed to take some unique wild-life shots.
I know from friend who fish there are some quite big fish in the river.
Yes, Danube is one of the biggest rivers in Europe and has been a water transport corridor for centuries...
The air struggle of the birds was actually the only thing that was somewhat disturbing the absolute peace of the surroundings.
Too many birds, just one pipe.
Not that they couldn't drink the water from the river, it just appeared they liked the running water better!
I followed that cruise ship and when I zoomed in to see any people, I saw only three.
It looked ghosted but this did not feel strange, not at all. It was just adding some more peacefulness to the moments I enjoyed outdoors.
Here is a water reflection abstract, just in case you wonder what that is!
Behind me... one completely different picture.
Abandoned Lada car, old Soviet made, if you wonder, left to rust next to a volleyball field that I could tell is not used that much. Its sand bed was covered in wild plants and grass.
Suddenly I realized that I found gold!
That was a real stunning star performance of our Sun, turning everything liquid around into pure gold...
You probably know by now how much I love Black & White or sometimes referred as Monochromatic photography. I have always believed that while Color Photography shows the external part of our world, Black and White Photography shows the soul, the inner hidden side of everything. Please consider the first photo of this post as my entry today to the established #monomad daily contest by the monochromes account and community and supported by the qurator account, thank you everyone for your hard and continuous efforts to build and grow this great community!
