Greetings, wonderful wanderers!
While I was walking and enjoying all the beauty, glory and endless number of landmarks and the sights of the Eternal City, and my eye were full of all that awesomeness, at the same time my mind was sometimes occupied with that line of thoughs...
"Is it all a matter of perspective?"
Most certainly, you have already heard of that philosophical courant stating that matter, in general, only exist when someone is observing it. If we extend that line, that would mean the our "reality" is just a solidified state of group human memories, visions or imagination?
That's probably a bit extreme, but who knows... Certainly we are not aware of so many things around us. But no doubt, our point of view changes not only our perception, but obviously the world around. I imagine that doesn't happen instantly, but instead, by the choices we make and the paths we take.
That church about, I am sure you have noticed how that cityscape dramatically changes when I slightly changed my position.
Now take a look at the next few pictures below.
One ordinary door you may say. What's so special about it?
Officially, that's one of the places of the "Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta". However, that's not what really makes it special to me. And to several other travelers and wanderers as well.
Sometimes, on good days, there is a long queue of people waiting in front of it.
Now, the interesting fact is, people waiting there don't get inside at all.
All they wait just to look through the key hole as the dome of the Vatican city cathedral could be seen from there, perfectly framed. Lit by the sunlight, that is indeed a great picture, almost like a painting!
Here is a perspective, isn't it?
Of course, many questions will remain unanswered to me, as, for instance, was this built on purpose? If yes, what was that purpose?
Lots of symbols and special details, as I could say!
One day, when I return to the Eternal City, I will make sure I visit that place again, hopefully this time there will be more time on my plate and I find the right persons to ask my questions to! :)
Until then, I will keep walking around and exploring that "perspective" matter.
'Cause Rome, the glorious capital of Italy, is just the place to do that. Walk, observe, think, act.
Then find a new perspective, alter it and reflect...
