RE: Southern Oxford Canal - Monomad Challenge

Well, I hope you don't get busted by a canal speed camera, LMAO! I bet there is an old law somewhere with small letters saying ass-steering is prohibited! :D
A totally unrelated question - that PV panel is probably about 400W, right? England isn't the sunniest country, so how much green energy do you get on an average day? What type of batteries do you use for storage?

Sort:

the leisure batteries are just regular truck/ car type batteries and even though its not a big panel it manages in the summer to keep up with fridge, lights , water pump and usb recharging. In the winter we atill need to run the engine an hour or so a day to keep the batteries topped up. We have one engine batt and 2 leisure.

Some folks have joke speed camera signs up along the canal 😃 at the bottom of their gardens backing on to the cut.

Great! That doesn't sound expensive, well done. I have a car battery and invertor, just in case, for backup if something goes wrong it gives us a day of working on our PCs... if I don't use the coffee machine, of course :)
The only downside I hear are the limited recharging cycles, compared to the Lithium batteries but their price is another story.

I bet sometimes weird stuff happens on those boats so I guess there are real cameras as well! :D
