The days when whaling ships bustled in the bays of the Arctic Circle and the chimneys of the whale oil factories smoked are long gone. And man has retreated from the ice except for a few research stations and expedition cruise ships
However, the bloody era of whaling has left its still visible traces. Empty hangars and huts, empty, tilted tran containers and slowly decaying shipwrecks stand everywhere in the wild beauty of almost untouched nature.
When does man cease to live and be perpetuating himself?
The pictures were taken during service breaks on the cruise ship MS Bremen with my Nikon D5000 and were edited with Snapseed.
