Today, I will share some of the photography image collections that I filmed yesterday.
Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh is the grandest mosque in Aceh, maybe even Indonesia.
The first Baiturrahman Grand Mosque was built in 1219 by Sultan Alauddin Mahmud Syah I, this mosque building was first built using wood and roofed with Rumbia leaves.
In 1873, under the command of General Kohler, the Netherlands had taken control of this mosque during the invasion of Aceh and was also burned by the Dutch in 1874 during the second wave of attacks.
on October 9, 1879 on the advice of Snouck Horgronje decided to rebuild the mosque building designed by Captain Genie Marechausse and the laying of the first stone was carried out by Tengku Malikul Adil witnessed by Dutch officials.
The model of the Baiturrahman Mosque reflects European and Islamic architecture. The dome of the mosque was only one until early 1935.
The people of Aceh use this mosque as a place of worship and a symbol of Islam in Aceh and the archipelago.
Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a symbol of religion, culture, spirit, strength, struggle and nationalism of the Acehnese people. This mosque is a Banda Aceh landmark since the era of the Aceh Sultanate.
The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh is also a silent witness to Aceh's history from the Dutch colonial period to the tragedy of the 26-December-2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami which devastated almost the entire coast of Aceh and several other areas in Asia. when the earthquake and tsunami shook the earth in Aceh, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh stood firmly in the middle of the city and became a shelter from the tsunami disaster at that time.
hundreds of lives were saved in this mosque by the power of ALLAH.
in 2015-2017 this mosque was renovated and beautified with the addition of large umbrellas such as the Haram Mosque and several other additions that made this mosque an attraction for foreign tourists to just see or take religious tours.
