Hello black and white lovers, this is my entry to the #monomad challenge. Today I bring you some of the best photos I've taken from all my street photography work. I was looking through my old photos, dusting off a hard drive that I hardly use and I can tell you that these are some of my best. I still have a long way to go to be a good documentary photographer but here I go with the stories of these photos. The first one you see before I start talking was taken on a day with a lot of waves in Havana's Malecon, when this happens the children usually take advantage of it to play with the water as if it were a swimming pool. The waves crash against the wall and manage to pass it until the water accumulates and the children can play with them as they understand. At that time they had not found my way to edit black and white, nowadays I usually do it more contrasted.
The next image was taken when this man was enjoying his lunch sitting in a park. Apparently he had had a very busy day and had not been able to have lunch. In this one I'm finding my way to edit the black and white, maybe I missed to add a little vignette to get closer to my current edition.
Hola amantes del blanco y negro, esta es mi entrada al reto #monomad. Hoy les traigo algunas de las mejores fotos que he hecho de todo mi trabajo de fotografía callejera. Estuve buscando entre mis fotos viejas, desempolvando un disco duro que casi no uso y puedo decirle que estas son de mis mejores. Aún me falta mucho para ser un buen fotógrafo documentalista pero ahi les voy con las historias de estas fotos. La primera que ven antes de comenzar hablar la capture un día de mucho oleaje en el malecón habanero, cuando esto pasa los niños suelen aprovechar para jugar con el agua como si fuese una piscina. Las olas chocan con la pared y logran pasarla hasta que se va acumulando agua y los niños pueden jugar con ellas como entienden. En aquel tiempo no habían encontrado mi forma de editar el blanco y negro, hoy en día suelo hacerlo mas contrastado.
La siguiente imagen la tome cuando este señor estaba disfrutando de su comida sentado en un parque. Al parecer llevaba un día de mucho trabajo y no había podido almorzar. En esta ya voy encontrando mi modo de editar el blanco y negro, quizás me falto añadirle un poco de viñeta para acercarme mas a mi edición actual.
In this one I was struck by this tourist approaching a stray dog, it's not something you see a lot. They usually give little importance to their passage through the streets the truth. But this was not the case of this man who gave some affection to the animal.
En esta me llamo la atención que este turista se acercara a un perro callejero, no es algo que se vea mucho. Suelen darles poca importancia a su paso por las calles la verdad. Pero no fue el caso de este señor que le dedico algo de cariño al animal.
Last but not least, on the contrary. It is for me one of the best photos I have ever taken. It shows a lot of the problems that exist in our society. There shouldn't be people begging in the streets to make a living and I hope someday we will see this disappear in some way. What does this image transmit to you?
Ultima pero no menos importante, por el contrario. Es para mí de las mejores fotos que he hecho en mi vida. Evidencia mucho parte de los problemas que existen en nuestra sociedad. No deberían existir personas que pidan limosnas en las calles para poder vivir y espero algún día lleguemos a ver que esto desaparezca de alguna forma. ¿A ustedes qué les transmite esta imagen?

There should not be people begging on the street especially the children.
My country has many due to poverty.
But sometimes, I heard that these children were being used by gangsters or parents. Is really sad and heart braking. 😢
Hopefully one day, maybe one day.
