Técnica para fotografía de retratos usando un solo flash || Technique for portraits photography using a single flash [ESP-ENG]

in Black And White3 years ago

Hello lovers of black and white. Some time ago I spoke to you about documentary photography, taking as an example my work with a group of theatrical actors. I made some portraits of those same actors using only a flash and in broad daylight, as such it was not necessary because there was no darkness, but it is a technique that I learned in my early days of photography and I am sure you will like it.

The technique is based on capturing a lit foreground while everything else around it remains dark, even when it is daytime. The trick is to shoot at a shutter speed between 1/150 and 1/200, this will capture the light from the flash but not the ambient light.

In these images I show you how I did it that day, the black fabric in the background is really not very necessary unless you have an object or a wall as in this case that is very close to the subject. Obviously any light other than the flash one of the girls is holding was the only light used.

This is the result, notice how the background is totally dark, which provides a good contrast and focuses attention on the person.

If you look at the following only half of the person's face lights up, this is easy to do by changing the angle of the light, you can play with this to get different results.

And this is me, acting a little surprised to see that they take pictures of me with my own cell phone, that beauty that I have in my hands is my old Canon 700D, super recommended if you start in photography.

I hope you liked it and can apply the technique if you did not know it. Greetings to all.

Hello @manuphotos and thank you very much for another #monomad participation!
Why give the highlight in your post to full color images when we are a black and white community?
We don't get it.

Hi 👋, in my post i use the color image to show the how is done, the moment of the photos so everyone could figure it out the technique. The results of that day was edit in black and white, the result are the main pictures of the post and the one participating, the other one are just to support for learn.

Yes, we understand all that, but it's odd that we need to scroll down half of the post to see the first black and white image, which is what we are here for 🙂

I see, didn’t think about that, i will try to remember that for the next post, thanks for letting me know, I’m still a newbie in this 😅
