Eid al-Adha is almost here, Muslims will make preparations to welcome the day of victory for all Muslims, one of which is meugang meat which has become a tradition for Muslims in Aceh. Aceh is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has a meugang tradition that has lasted hundreds of years ago. The holding tradition is called meat-cutting day, where Muslims will cook to be eaten when entering the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha.

In my city I live in Lhokseumawe City when entering Muslim celebrations, people are always crowded to shop at the market, they are members of ingredients and meat to be brought back to their homes, meugang meat does not mean that only one type of meat is sought, but there are several types of meat that are sought, namely beef, buffalo, goat, chicken to duck with different prices each year. The bustle of traders is clearly visible when the meat cutting day arrives, they get a lot of profit from sales on a normal day.

However, it is different when approaching Eid al-Adha, many Muslims make sacrifices or animals that have reached the age of slaughter which are believed to be able to get blessings and wealth for many people who are able to make sacrifices to be distributed to the poor. To meet the demand for sacrificial animals, traders since last month have prepared various types of animals to offer to buyers who want to sacrifice.

Slightly different to celebrate Eid al-Adha this year, Muslims are allowed to celebrate but must use health protocols by the government so as not to be infected by the coronavirus or Covid-19, what else in Indonesia is increasing. Positive cases of Covid-19, this is done to maintain health yourself and your family, especially in areas that are prone to spreading the virus.

Despite the pandemic, Muslims are undergoing the usual victory day as seen on the Eid al-Fitr holiday two months ago, but the request remains with wearing a mask and cleaning. May we all be given health and strength to fight the deadly virus.
