Art Emerging From Plastic in Black and White

in Black And White6 days ago (edited)

If you visit the Finisterrae Aquarium in A Coruña, you will find a section of fish made from plastic waste.

It is a corner dedicated to raising awareness about marine pollution, on the walls are displayed fish, squid and seahorses, all made from straws, plastic cutlery, vacuum cleaner hoses, pieces of nets, toys, bottle caps, shoe soles, parts of some boats and much more debris.

From what I read on the posters for this exhibit, most of the debris is collected from the beaches the days following the Feast of San Juan. For those who don't know the Feast of San Juan is a Christian celebration that takes place in June every year, where bonfires are lit on the shore of the beach and people spend the night celebrating, drinking and eating around it. All the waste from this celebration ends up in the waters of the beach affecting marine life.

Going back to the photos, it is curious to see how they put together all these marine animals with so much creativity and precision of every detail, taking all that polluting waste to become art. If you zoom in on the photos you can see the details more clearly and you will surely be able to see the tiny pieces of plastic.

I suppose that the inhabitants of this city every time they see this section they will wonder if any of the straws they used in that party is in one of these fish, if so, I hope it has made them aware and take care of their beaches a little more.

Excellent way to reuse waste and educate people in the care of nature. Beautiful pictures @mballesteros. Greetings and nice day ☺️

Thanks you. I really enjoyed taken those pictures.
Have a nice weekend. ;)

Nice weekend to you too ☺️

Recycling waste like this helps Mother Earth. It is a key part of reducing pollution and conserving natural resources. Plastic is widely used around the globe, and tons of it are thrown anywhere. People do not do anything about it, which leads to marine pollution. This is a good idea. Let us start recycling and healing the Earth.

It would be great if everyone could do their bit in initiatives like these, so we would keep the planet healthy as you say. The question is whether we are all willing to do it?

Thank you for your visit. ;)

Some may be willing to take action, but we cannot force anyone, as they are occupied. This is why most people simply share information online and slogans about the current situation. Perhaps some will eventually come forward.

A good way, recycling garbage is one of the good ways to keep us clean, from this craft I think that if many of us do this maybe we will feel a clean area and away from disease, and these paintings made of used plastics are very cool.

Yes, it is a good way to recycle, the bad thing is that not many people are willing to do it. But hey, you have to start somewhere.

Thanks for commenting! ;)
