Downtown Calgary perpetually looks like it is under construction. Cranes can be seen from everywhere and even if you don't go downtown often you will still notice similar sights as we are constantly building skyscrapers and condo towers.
Here was the first few levels of the Telus sky building now completed. It is among the tallest buildings in western Canada.

The Central Public Library build near the edge of downtown part of the building is built over the existing c-train tacks and tunnel that leads into downtown.
