This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.Monday is for Macros.
Hello friends, did you know? These insects were carnivores. They were eating and eating what they found around the watering pool. I loved these little ones when I was a little boy. Frankly, I got a little scared after I found out they were carnivores. :)
Their names are very innocent in Turkish. We call them "Yusufçuk". And Yusuf is a Turkish name. We create a perception of tinyness by saying Yusufçuk, that is, adding "-çuk" to the end.
After a little research, I discovered that dragonflies are the legendary beetle of many countries. I will share some of these with you:
If we list some of the legends of Dragonfly Bug according to cultures,
For American Indians, dragonfly beetles were considered dream carriers. This will happen if you make a wish if a dragonfly appears to you.
Again in North America, dragonflies were not afraid of snakes, or even placed on their heads, spread the myth that they were insects that enchant the snakes.
In Mexico, dragonflies symbolize cunning, strength and courage.
They also believe that when it appears in the corn fringes, it informs the arrival of summer.
However, humans do not have good thoughts for dragonflies in European culture. Seeing dragonflies around is a sign that damage and tragedy are coming.
In the Romanian culture, the word (Dragon) is described as a dragon and a devil, so dragonflies are compared to dragon+fly. It is believed that being around has bad effects for people.
Since they live in and around water, names such as "water nymph" and "water spirit" are also used for dragonflies. According to many European legends, names are assigned to horses such as "golden horse" and "little horse", since a horse is said to turn into a dragonfly.
However, Japan is the country where dragonfly has the strongest legends. Dragonfly was the emblem of this country as "invincible insect", while one of Japan's oldest names was Dragonfly (dragonfly) Island. In the 17th century, Japanese warriors adorned their masks with dragonfly motifs because they believed they brought strength and protection to them.
The Japanese believe that dragonflies bring a fortune. Most of their folklore have gifts given by dragonflies.
Red dragonflies are abundant in the autumn months of Japan. They are found in some of the rarest dragonflies.
A large number of dragonflies appear in the environment, known as Spirit Ancestors for Buddhists, and dragonflies are thought of as winged places where the ancestors' spirits returned. This date in August is considered to be the holiest day of buddhists.
There is a general belief around the world that dragonflies are believed to be creatures that bring messages from the eternal world.
The main source of this is that dragonflies have an ancient past even from dinosaurs. They are also respected as the oldest of insects. It is believed that on its bright wings that is not found in other insects, it carries a magic. We believe that dragonflies bring us a message from the eternal world every time it appears.
Have a nice and wonderful day for everyone who loves and to be loved and take care yourself.
