Yesterday, walking down a street in Havana, in front of what is left of a pharmacy, I found this phrase: "There is no" but not only there, but as I went along it became more recurrent, and not only in the establishments, but also in people's faces. This is my proposal for today that I would like to share with you. Personally, I believe that these two words are much more than a simple phrase; it is a slogan that ends up setting the pace of daily life in my city. The "There is no" can be read on the improvised posters, it can be heard continuously in the queues of the stores, that absence that becomes a habit is reflected in the looks, in the gestures full of resignation, in the worn walls. And it is there, in that daily life impregnated with lack, my friends, where the black and white of my photos make sense.
Ayer, caminando por una calle de La Habana, frente a lo que queda de una farmacia, encontré esta frase: «No hay», pero no solo allí, sino que a medida que avanzaba se hacía más recurrente, y no solo en los establecimientos, sino también en el rostro de las personas. De aquí va mi propuesta de hoy que les quiero compartir. En lo personal, creo que estas dos palabras son mucho más que una simple frase; es un lema que termina marcando el ritmo de la vida diaria en mi ciudad. El «No hay» se lee en los carteles improvisados, se escucha continuamente en las colas de las tiendas , esa ausencia que se convierte en costumbre se refleja en las miradas, en los gestos llenos de resignación, en las paredes desgastadas. Y es ahí, en esa cotidianidad impregnada de carencia mis amigos, donde el blanco y negro de mis fotos cobran sentido.Saludos, amigos de la comunidad #blackandwhite.
